The outside looks great, perfect level of thrill. The inside (both scenes and queue) are not up to Universal’s current quality standard.
people are pissy about ONE part? Please, it's much better than whatever the hell Disney has been doing and it actually works with a car that "jumps" over the rails, what more could you really ask for? If anything it looks like that one mine era in Donkey Kong where it's all metal anyway, and maybe that's what they were going for?
I think people can't be too picky on this seeing how, it didn't even release yet here, and it's literally ONE DAMN PART of the ride, that's about switching back and orth.

The new videos make that section look perfectly dark with the track elements lit.
Funny that he thought he might be called a hypocrite for saying he didn't care about something he was talking/making content about, but didn't realize that he started the video with his hypocrisy talking about mad disney fans, as if he isn't one himself.
Painted bricks wouldn’t have been difficult. It’s a shocking oversight. Modern Disney does that kind of stuff too, but the old-school Imagineering principles wouldn’t have allowed it because of light leakage. Many of us want to believe Uni represents the new generation of old-school WDI, and I think that’s the cause for disappointment.
This version looks pretty underwhelming. I felt the same way when I saw a video of the Mario Kart ride. But I really can't tell too much with these videos. And the Epic Universe rides could be higher quality. So I just need to go and experience it myself before I make final judgment.
the one hallway not being fully themed is disappointing and could’ve been done better, but it’s by no means the end of universal or even the end of this ride. the rest of the ride looks great to me
This ride is still better than anything Walt Disney imagineering has created in the last decade.

Y’all need to watch more recent videos. You are commenting on an outdated view of that scene. Many later ride videos show the lighting corrected and it is fine. All rides that feature a pitch black scene skip the theming because you are never intended to see it. Dinosaur, for example… nearly ⅓ of that ride is just black painted walls.
This is the problem with leaked footage.
Seems like they could/should/would do something with this area. Just paint and some graphics at least.
My photo of the dragon in the basement of the castle in Disney Paris is much sharper than I remember the dragon looking.
Pretty sure that footage is from one of those "low light" cameras that pick everything up that the human eye doesn't see…..especially when the human eyes are still adjusting to the light. I've seen dozens of these low light videos on Disney attractions that show way more than the eye sees. This is a total nothingburger.
