â–º Final Fantasy XVI Story Synopsis

Final Fantasy XVI reimagines the series’ iconic summons as Eikons. These deadly creatures are housed within Dominants, men and women who inherit their immense power at birth – whether they like it or not.

Eikons are the most powerful beings in Valisthea, a land where six powerful realms have emerged thanks to the power of the Mothercrystals. The aether provided by these towering mountains of crystal powers the magicks that have allowed these nations to thrive for many years — but now a mysterious Blight threatens to disrupt their uneasy alliance.

Play as Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria and guardian of his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Eikon Phoenix, in this epic action RPG from a team of Final Fantasy veterans.

  1. 32:02 when they make even the dog a Dominant, just because someone in the writing staff noticed, that he should have been akashic by now, with all the aether areas he's been in.
Still no explenation for why Torgal is even still alive at his age.

  2. Against enemies with a Will Gauge Ignition is best used when they are staggered cause it last's so long. So long as you don't move the stick lol. Also, there is a reason I don't use Aero Blast, can't see a darn thing while it's active ><

  3. I like this fight a lot. It’s one of those rare ones where the main character isn’t trying to save someone or he’s trying to talk sense into the bad guy. It’s just two guys who really really hates each other and willing to kill the other no matter what.

Torgal! I was seriously worried for Jill. I keep thinking there is going to be another moment like Cid's death where she passes Shiva on to Clive. I loved seeing more of Gav in this, although I'm still disappointed that we can't have him actually in our party. I'm a little sorry Hugo survived, but I am glad it didn't turn into an Eikon battle between Titan and Ifrit here. I don't think the Rosarian loyalists would handle well the realization that Clive is the Dominant that destroyed Phoenix Gate and defeated the Phoenix. Especially if the realization comes along with him leveling what's left of Rosalith.

  5. Seeing Torgal like that made me think he might be a dominant of Fenrir which is often a summon (wolf) on the Final Fantasy games. Then again how that might happen or how as you said he's not just going akashic… no idea there.

There's supposed to be only 8 eikons so… shrug many unknowns!

edit: Also… "i'm not even semi prime" well that's the limit breaks!

  7. Theres a reset option under each ability just press square that way you dont have to reset everything if you dont want, I've already seen someone speak about locking abilities which is also a valid way of lessening the work

  8. 2:25 Looking at that map right there it seems like that northern territory that Jill is originally from and whatever nation was there is completely wiped out by the blight by now. A bit odd that it's never mentioned.

57:20 That's really bad news then. Because I'm pretty sure by voice that's the same mysterious guy that showed up at base. That means Waloed knows where your hideout is.

  9. 27:10 That's so stupid. By both Clive and Kupka. Clive just letting himself get arrested by somebody who he knows wants to kill him and Kupka for not doing it. Everybody is an idiot here. Why not have some surprise attack/trap just knock Clive and Jill out instead? Gets the same result but without making Jill look weak and Clive look stupid. And they've even established that Kupka likes traps, so it would be in character too. Easily the worst scene in the game so far. Very clumsy and brainless setup that makes everybody look worse.
29:05 Ok. Kupka is not quite as dumb. He does immediately go to the execution and just wants him to also see Jill get beheaded like Benedikta was for revenge. That makes sense.

before: Gav: "These shackles are hard to open." but because he is an expert infiltrator he opens them fast anyway.
32:10 Gav is not the one opening them for Jill and Clive can open them even faster.

The writing is definitely dropping several IQ points in this section.

42:30 Ugh. I hate this aswell. There was no need to shoehorn the stereotypical evilness of "I want to rule the world as a god" in for Kupka. It also comes out of nowhere and is completely uneccessary. He already had plenty going on that was actually established. This just makes him so much worse as an antagonist. Now he's just a saturday morning cartoon villain and I rolled my eyes at him, which I did not at any point before.

55:35 And the trend of stupid of this section continues. Why not have Clive NOT hesitate but just be thrown back by a shockwave or something. Again same outcome, except Clive doesn't look stupid. 58:20 Ok, I guess he was kind of stopped, but he still hesitated too much before that or it was poorly shown that the gift was already active when he hesitated. Still poorly done.

Everybody except Gav and Torgal got worse as a character in this section.

  10. Ugh I wish I had a PS5 so baddddd; the fights in this game look so damn fun! The way that Hugo's attacks are telegraphed, and the opportunities you have to play around them feel so familiar, coming from FF14, despite this being a completely different style of game. I felt similarly hyped with the Typhon battle; the fights look really well-designed and are such great highlights

  11. That moment Clive sees Torgal and asks/tells/begs him to "Go! (save Jill)" was such a great beat. Acting, animation, heart strings… Everything!! Could Torgal's power be from Joshua back when they were kids?
