Hi guys, about those flies; if you pop in to any butchers shop in Portugal, you will notice the butcher has these neo-on electric lights on the walls, which zap and frazzle the flies. Usually by the door and at the back of the counter. Worth checking those out.
I heard that if you own a farm in Portugal, you can get money in terms of grants from the Government to help you with expenses in running your farm. That way you could hire people to help you with trimming and pruning, mulching, etc…if you have farm animals you get more money.
About the geese, are you going to buy them a swimming pool, ie paddling pool maybe? X:)
you are starting to experience el niño
Can I bring my huge 2 year old Kangal to you to train coz he's already realized he is much bigger than us and refuse to listen…lol
Nice one guys. Good work with the rat traps Ken, loved the video of them jumping on your stomach and of Gina laughing her head off! 😄😄
I believe the flies come from sheep dung, right? That's why you won't find them in regions where there isn't cattle.
As moscas são devido aos animais que têm na quinta as galinhas as ovelhas
The products you mentioned are coming are not good for your channel
I'm glad to hear you had some good rain. Storm Oscar affected you. Groete.
Love your videos
Thank you for sharing some of your life look forward to watching every Sunday 😁
There is a comment about planting lavender, sage, and peppermint. That is interesting. I have those things planted near the back side of the house and hardly no flies. Of course I don’t think we would have thousands regardless but that is worth a try. Another great video. Can you check some hot o see if there is a water leak? I have seen Bob the camper van, didn’t realize it was that many years.
Looking forward to sisters visit.
Poor Bob, he is definitely a sad sack. No doubt you'll get him back to his former glory.
Hugs from 🇨🇦
If you can’t strim can your neighbor use his tractor to plow between the rows or is that banned too?
Buy a new strimmer
Buy a new strummer and keep the old one for backup and fix at your leisure
Get your sister to bring you some doom, it works well with flies.
Sounds to me that your biting flies are horse or deer flies 'there are few of them where Iive in the Lakeland of Finland. But they live all over Europe. May I suggest you look at buying a H-Trap they certainly work on the ones here. The horse flies live near lakes or ponds that is why you did not see them in the Algarve. They are attracted to your heat signature and the H- trap is a passive solar ball suspended on a frame with a collection canopy funnel and a collection jar.
Oh Bob!!!😟 I remember the rats!!! 😂 Nice walkabout guys!!👍🏻👍🏻😊
Did you know you can mix a spray with Listerine mouthwash in a spray bottle and spray anywhere around your door and over your food area safely and it can chase the flies away. From the chosen areas.
Why can't BOB the camper van be parked nearer to your house ?
You have a hottie for a sister Ken!!! Thanks for the update, looking forward to next week's episode!
Suggestion: build a veranda extension on your house for outdoor living when v hot & raining – the dogs won't feel so cooped up when it rains.
GREAT VIDEO, WERE YOU ABLE TO HARVEST ANYTHING FROM THE GARDEN FOR THE TWO OF YOU OR DID THE GOOSEY GOOSE GOOSE EAT THEM ALL
It's Joaquim's sheep farm that is attracting the flies.
Great update. Ive been watching since the start, haven't missed an episode. My favorite. love watching your journey.
I have really enjoyed our multi-year journey with you. Thank you for doing these blogs!!
You can get fly sticky tape things that you hang, to protect your doorway, or zapper light thing that kills them on contact, but as I'm writing this, I feel that these are extreme things that I don't deal with, but maybe helpful to you.
Great video Ken and Gina! Eventhough it wasxquite a laid back video! Have a great week!
Hahaha. That's about 5% of the flies we would have in Canada in late summer, on a screen door!
I'm glad you have been having rain … better for everyone !
We call them mandarins in australia (the orange fruit)
Do they run sheep in your area? If so, you could see if a farmer would want to run his sheep in there to chew all the grass down. They make excellent lawn mowers. Goats aren’t as good because they spend more time eating the trees or vines.
Hi Ken couple of suggestions again, related to mow the vineyard and de olive tree yard the best option to save your legs and your back i would have a small but a realy small Kubota Trator with PTO and a mower attachment and also there are specific mower to mow between the vines. And related to water I recomend just a simple digging on your dam to increase the water saving. Related to the flys and other creatures I recommend planting a lot o basil around the house. Especialy on the front of the house. A bunch of basil remember. Also I can say these kind of temperature variations and abnormal heat and rain waves are not normal on our clima in Portugal but these are the climatic changes that we have earing from many many ear ago. Now we have 2 possibilities or we gonna have an extreme dry summer or the opposite, 1 day extreme cold 2 or 3 days rainny or bad wheather
yes the flies are annoying but our bug population is down lke 90% we gotta let them live… I bet most 40+ remember how splattered cars windshields where back then… now you only get a few splotches when you drive… it's kinda sad when you think about it… and the swallows, bats and other critters love flies
The fly's are probably becouse of the sheep.. that amount is not normal at all..
I think you're getting many flies because you live near a sheep farm, here in Fundão it's not such a big problem, but when i visit my oncle on his sheep farm the flies will swarm inside my car straight away, it's annoying and disgusting!
Hi Ken, try one of those fly glue strips! I saw other videos where they were super effective near cattle!
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys.
Hi, ken try spray some home made citrus oil on and around your fly screen that might help keep the flies away. The stronger the citrus scent the better.
I can't wait til you let the Portugeese out in the pond! It will be an amazing episode!❤❤❤ great update Ken and Gina🎉 looking forward to more!
Rats get a bad press I ❤ Rats
Wow 4 years. Well done both of you. Thats why we should always try to follow our dreams when we can.
Ive really enjoyed your channel
First aid for spider control! It worked.
Great video! Like the idea of Gina having a place just for her work (WOMAN CAVE)😂😂😂. Back for Ireland, great vacation but caught Pneumonia on my way back. Started with a runny nose on a 6 1/2 flight!😂😂 have 2 or 3 days left of antibiotics (SunSensatice kind) right!! But can breathe now and feeling much better. 🙏♥️🇺🇸🇵🇹⛵️👣😊
