  1. I've just recently found yalls new page and know nothing about what happened. But, I just heard you say it took you 6hrs to clean that 4R100 from that Powerstroke, do yall not have that Parts Washer machine that was sent to yall awhile back anymore?

  2. My 700R4 trans in my Nomad (with a 383) won’t shift correctly until it warms up. When it warms up it shifts ok. Any recommendations as to correcting this issue? Enjoy the channel. Tks for sharing.

  4. Thank you, I have only 'torn down' Disassembled one Manuel tranz, a 3speed from a chevy car a friend helped me. and I ended up putting a 4 speed in but reassembled the 3 speed I'm told it worked, but back in 1976 I didn't have the Patience to learn Transmissions. at 64 yrs old I get to learn some because I want to. Thank you for getting these videos out At lease I now have a starting point. I may try a 700r4 after watching you. This thing looks nasty you have on this video.

  5. Perhaps you could include some still images of the carnage that you find after the cleanup & inspection & include them at the end of the video. I, for one, would like to see that.

  6. just a heads up richard , i am no mechanic , but when ever i change out manual tranny fluid , i always pour in quart of engine duralube engine treatment into the tranny then top it up with the proper weight of gear oil , even though duralube is for engines , it works great in manual transmissions , when worked into the various metal parts , the tranny shifts smoothly like a hot knife through butter ,been doing this for many years

  7. I met a gentleman in Goshen Indiana once that pulled new trailers to dealers. He had a Dodge truck and it used a NV 4500 tranny. I asked him if he had any problems with the tranny and he replied yes, once at 250K? He also said he changed tranny fluids every 40K miles. So these trannies will live if maintained properly. And thank you Richard and Tressa for continuing your good work. I wouldn't miss an episode.

  8. Hi Richard, it seems like these 5-speed transactions self destruct . Are they worth rebuilding or would an alternate be advised? I'm not sure if I can trust anyone up here in Michigan. Or would it be easier to bring it to you? 😊

  9. You commented on finding a lot more problems after performing a clean-up of a transmission. How about doing a follow up after disassembling a transmission that is showing bad wear like the Dodge NV 4500 telling and or showing what other problems were found. A re-assembly video would be great too. I subscribed to you after watching this video. Very professionally done video.

  10. I’ve built loads of gearboxes Richard. Nothing like the weight of the good old cast iron case for a work out. The smell of burnt, old gear oil,it stays with you. I would liked to have a go at that gearbox, my cup of tea. A very expensive rebuild considering all the damage. Absolutely great video!!!!

  11. Richard, I’m almost in Amarillo TX and planned to stop by your shop. I flew from Maryland, and driving back. So, my wife was looking you up and your old business is closed up? The date is 14 March, 2024@ 3:45 pm. I’ve been watching your You Tube for over 2 years. I have a long drive back. I’ll be in Amarillo in about an hour. Is there anywhere I can see your shop? I’d hate to go all the way home and miss this chance. I’m the Army guy who reached out to you and spoke with you on the phone 2 years ago. Let me know.
    Kind Regards,
    Tom

  12. Whats the best way to get in contact with you for a rebuild? Im having trouble finding a shop nearby that can rebuild a 68RFE. My stock one no longer goes into any forward gear just reverse with 425k miles.

  13. I worked on one of these for a guy who was too cheap to go to a transmission shop. He heard that there was a large nut holding (Its been quite a while ago) something in tight and if it backed off, things got ugly fast. I do remember it was four wheel drive and that nut was most likely about a inch and a quarter, more or less, It had some tangs on a locking washer that kept it from backing off. I did as he asked and of course it was not as tight as should be. At that point, I figure there is more damage on the inside but he said, "Just tighten the heck out of it" and so I did, then reassembled it. I will admit it did shift better and never gave him any problems after.

  14. Richard and Teresa I love when you put out these videos when you do a manual transmission these are transmissions people just seem to forget about and yet they're a big part of keeping a truck running I wish more cars had manual transmissions put out more manual transmission videos these are the best ones I think you put out there .
