  1. My all-time favorite vintage Doctor Who episode is when the Doctor accidentally returns to a planet where he caused a big mess, and he has to fix it. It's not something we see very often and it is just so fun!

  2. You have to imagine how this was for people watching in 2005. Weakest Link, Big Brother and What Not to Wear were three of the biggest shows on British TV at the time, so this was absolutely mind blowing. Big Brother wasn't even a BBC show, so god knows how they managed to get the rights to show it here.
I think Eccleston has just gotten better and better as this season has gone on, and I'm glad you're getting so invested in the show so quickly.

  3. Christopher Eccleston plays a slightly goofy Doctor very well but when the Doctor gets pissed…look out! You really do feel that you should not make him angry because nothing will stop him. I love how 9 can be whimsical and threatening simultaneously.

  4. As I’ve seen another comment note, for British audiences at the time they knew EXACTLY where they were when they heard that big brother theme music playing at the start. That and the weakest link even back then (at 5/6) I probably would’ve been familiar with.

  5. Jack was on a version of a reality makeover show called "What Not to Wear", where a person would get a wardrobe update and often a new hairstyle and makeup look (no scary cosmetic surgery though!). It was hosted by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine, who did give some genuinely useful fashion advice. Fun fact: The four androids running the shows were actually played by the people who hosted the equivalent shows in the UK.
Looking forward to the series finale!

  6. So Torchwood was actually the production title for thus first series of Doctor Who to help keep things secret and that's actually what it was in reference to here. It then afterwards, party because Russell just thought it sounded good, gets developed into something proper in the show with the spin off series. It also os of course an anagram of Doctor Who.
