DisneySea Tokyo – Not the park for us

Join us as we make our first visit to DisneySea in Tokyo Japan.
We will share how we booked the tickets, navigated this huge park, and enjoyed the food and drinks; did I say enjoyed ๐Ÿ˜€ .
We rode some of the rides unique to this park, Indiana Jones, 20,000 leagues under the sea and Journey to the center of the Earth.
The park is huge and wonderfully themed, but it did underwhelm us somewhat, we will explain why.

  1. Donโ€™t they have Duffy in WDW anymore ? It was full of Duffy merch about 7 years ago when we last went, but to be fair we didnโ€™t โ€œ get it โ€œ either , I assume heโ€™s been retired state side ?

  2. DisneySea looked a mish mash of all kinds of Disney parks, I remember 10,000 leagues under the sea from 1991 in the MK, after that it disappeared….looked to be a park to stroll around and take your time as loads of things to see. I would also struggle with the food, the ice cream looked good. Will be nice to see your next vlog….

  3. Hi, DisneySea is a pretty unique park. I'm glad you enjoyed some of the rides ! I know all about Duffy & his friends ( Shellie May, Gelatoni, Stella Lou, Olu, Cookie Ann, Linabell……, big fan here!!!! He has his own little area & show in Cape Cod ) The Italian area with the gondolas looks quite cool. Aww poor Max.. 'what the heck is that?' ( was that drink worse than Beverley? ) Enjoyed watching, thanks. x

  4. How have you never seen Duffy before? My daughter got hers at The Magic Kingdom when she was 2 (20 now) and always buys new outfits for him from there or when we visit Disneyland Paris, have seen him in the parks and on parade floats with Mickey

  5. Duffy had a meet and greet at Epcot near the boat launch on the future world side for many years. I think it just stopped about 5 years ago. One of those shops near the boat docks was also mostly Duffy merch and they had some of those around the world map games that were Duffy themed. All of the Kidcot stops at the countries gave Duffy on a stick to color as well and collect the stamps from the countries. The original Little Golden Book story book with Duffy just called him Disney Bear. It just had him touring around Magic Kingdom after hours with Mickey when he came to life. USA Disney fans tend to make fun of Duffy. He was never really a popular character. So, they removed his meet n greet and the shop. Most of the other friends of Duffy never made it to the USA Parks.

  6. Interesting vlog, great to see familiar but different attractions. We are looking forward to our trip to Orlando in august to visit Disney. Would like to see Japans version as well at some point, so thanks for the tips ๐Ÿ˜Š

  7. In the Asian culture you are expected to bring back small gifts to family and friends, thus the shops have loads of small things to buy. At the Tokyo Disneyland Resort 80% of the guests are young Japanese girls or women.

  8. I hope Maxine got a happy hour treat after the 1st tower of terror! ๐Ÿ˜‚ it seemed like there wasnโ€™t much atmosphere in the park, is that because it was so big and spaced out?

  10. Thanks for the vlog but disappointed you didn't or couldn't show the ride itself. Just you both getting on and off. Is it worth the cost of travel in your opinion or is universal better?

  11. Enjoying this series as know very little about the Japan parks. Are you going to do a round up vlog on what you thought about the trip overall?

  12. Oh the encouragement to use the lovely tea to wash away the snack taste had us in hysterics. No wonder it made Max swearโ€ฆ.. she is far too forgiving โ€ฆ.. loving this series .

  13. I liked that there were shoulder straps on their TOT! I have riden the one in Orlando but was scared to do the one in California, themes like Guardians of the Galaxy. We were there at Halloween time and it had monsters after dark. My FOMO got me on it! Iโ€™m glad I did! I was proud of myself at the age of 66 to do it! I screamed like crazy but enjoyed it!
    Good for you, Max!!!
    Great vlog!

  14. Duffy was a gift from Minnie to Mickey when he was off at sea. He started at WDW but was picked up by Tokyo Disney and is most popular at the Asian Disneys, but they also have him and his friends in Paris. I was there in 2017 and couldn't leave without buying one! Disney Sea is regarded by many as the best Disney park in the world.
PS We had lunch on the SS Columbia and it was delicious! It was very classy (I was with my 70 year old mum and she loved it!)

  15. โ€œKeep putting that camera on meโ€. Poor Max ๐Ÿ˜‚ I felt the same way after riding Tower of Terror in Orlando – almost passed out afterwards from the nerves and adrenaline. Donโ€™t let him pressure you to go on the one in Orlando ๐Ÿคฃ. As always, appreciate the candid and honest feedback regarding fast passes in Tokyo!

  16. Hey Max & Barry! I totally relate to your reactions on the food and drink. I lived in Japan for 3 yrs and went hungry a lot! Thankfully I was in the Navy and we had a few places to eat on base. We didnโ€™t eat out much otherwise! Oh, and I hate seafood, so you can imagine how much that complicated things!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ข

  17. Everyone is different with jet lag. We flew 21 hours via Sydney to get from New Zealand to California. Basically had minimal jet lag and were back to normal the next morning.

  19. It smells like chicken, coz it is chickenโ€ฆโ€ฆ..Iโ€™m guessing that comment was based on Skipperโ€™s Canteen it looks like chicken because it is chicken. Duffy is the bear that Minnie gave Mickey to take with him on his travels โค.

    Looking forward to Universal
Grateful Thanks for what you do
