Obviously, the magic band has to be turned on to work for the Bhatu Bounty Hunters, but does it have to be turned on for everything else? The original MagicBand was basically an RFID chip and all the places it could be used around Disneyworld just had RFID readers. Is it possible that it still has an RFID chip that is readable when the battery has died and the battery is just for the extra experiences?

We bought some magic bands and used them, and I think I would rather have the physical annual pass. It's more convenient. It doesn't get caught on things and fall off. It always works. I don't have to charge it at the end of the day.
The band is more convenient than your pass on your phone, but that convenience is short lived, because once you use the band to get into the parks or redeem a lightning lane reservation, you have to get your phone right out and use it to make reservations on genie+.
Physical pass
100% would rather have a physical annual pass… I know…I'm weird…
My Jack Skelington Magic Band just lit up and vibrated while on Mansion ride!!
One important point that seems to be getting lost: the MB+ only needs to be charged to enjoy the interactive features (lights, haptics, etc.). For everything else, it uses RFID just like the old bands.
What a waste!
Easy Magic Band is my choice. I find it so much more convenient than having to whip out a physical card. I am thinking about just wearing one next time I go to Disney World even if I am just going to Disney Springs. I have not yet gone to Disneyland.

So there’s no technical reason I shouldn’t be able to link the WDW Magic Band I already have to my Disneyland Resort account except perhaps it would reduce Disneyland income by $45. Am I correct that WDW Magic Bands are not compatible with Disneyland?

Good tip is under setting for your magic band+ you can make it more sensitive I found that was really helpful in WDW doing any of the quest things
I prefer the Magic Band. My home park is Disneyland, but I go to Disneyworld on occasion and stay at the resorts. To pay, go through Fast Pass (back then), using your meal plan, go to your resort room, photo pass, etc. all on a magic band rather than going through your cards is easier but at the cost of our privacy. Disney tracks which rides you go to, what you paid for, and which areas you hang out by tracking the bluetooth function of the magic band. But that is just me.
I don’t wear jewelry. Thank heaven for cellphone . No need to wear a watch anymore. This may take me awhile to decide to get a magic band.
Maybe charge it while eating? Dinner, lunch? A snack.
Why don't they just create ab Apple Watch app that literally does the same thing and still have the option for people who don't own a smart watch to buy the Magicbands. Just seems piontless to me just use your phone as youll always have your phone with you anyways.

i would rather have the magic band because they may light up colors in rides because the walt disney world magic band flashes the french flag at the exit of remy's ratatouille adventure at epcot
The funny thing is that I was there at Disneyland that day on October 19th
would you say the magic band is worth it for people who don't do genie+? it seems like the main use is for lightning lane so i'm hesitant to drop $35+ on one if i'm not really gonna use it
Magic bands are fun
This was great, I think when something new comes out there’s a lot of hype around it and you feel this pull to get it even if it’s not really of a big benefit for you. If we didn’t live so far away I could see benefit of convenience especially for kids being able to scan themselves in but when you’re not going frequently it’s not worth it in my opinion.
David, do you know if I will be able to buy magic bands in February at Disneyland? Should I buy them now? The one I want (the classic sleeping beauty castle band) is only available on eBay.

Magic Band is a waste of money.

The BIG question: When is Disneyland going to offer MagicMobile??? WDW currently offers it, and it does most of what the MagicBand does with no additional cost (assuming you own a smart phone). I don’t see much reason to get the MagicBand with the convenience of MagicMobile.
Hey Fresh Baked! That was my only question, that is it required to have one? I'm glad that it's not required. I love the different colors and styles though. Thanks for showing us what you can and can't do with it. I like that you can use them to do fun bounty hunts in Galaxies Edge. That's a fun aspect of it.
I still have a few a questions that I can’t find answers for.
Can you use them at the parking lot for redeeming free parking/discount? Or for your discount % when purchasing food or items?
If I can avoid using the app that would be awesome.

Disney needs to figure out a way to add gift cards to the app like starbucks! I save up all year with gift cards but it is such a pain to use them. especially when mobile ordering!
The last time I used a Magicband (battery operated) was in 2017 WDW. I love that we don't have to carry the physical pass with us or even the key to our hotel. My sister, nieces and I stayed at the Art of Animation and it's just fun placing your band on the lock and it opens for you 😊 I am planning another trip in 2025 with my in-laws – possibly 7-9 kids and 12 adults 😂 but it depends who confirms on actually going 🤷🏻♀️. Magicbands will totally help us out on this part lol. If the Magicband lasts forever with it having to be charged now, could we purchase it even waaaay before our possible trip?
