Disneyland is an amusement park in Anaheim, California, which opened in 1955. It is the only one designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney.
Walt Disney came up with the concept of Disneyland after visiting various amusement parks with his daughters in the 1930s and 1940s. He initially envisioned building a tourist attraction adjacent to his studios in Burbank to entertain fans who wished to visit; however, he soon realized that the proposed site was too small. After hiring the Stanford Research Institute to perform a feasability study determining an appropriate site for his project, Disney bought a 160-acre (65 ha) site near Anaheim in 1953. The park was designed by a creative team hand-picked by Walt from internal and outside talent. They founded WED Enterprises, the precursor to today’s Walt Disney Imagineering. Construction began in 1954 and the park was unveiled during a special televised press event on the ABC Television Network on July 17, 1955.

Since its opening, Disneyland has undergone expansions and major renovations, including the addition of New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country in 1972, Mickey’s Toontown in 1993, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019. Opened in 2001, Disney California Adventure Park was built on the site of Disneyland’s original parking lot.

  2. My wife and I just returned from Walt Disney World’s (WDW) Animal Kingdom Lodge, celebrating or 50th Anniversary. I would like to say our stay was Magical like our previous trips to WDW but the Magic is gone. The resort was wonderful, the restaurants that we ate at were very good but the theme parks have lost the Magic.

Let me start this off by saying there are only so many hours in a day to accomplish your goals.

Just a few years ago everyone who visited WDW was on the same playing field with FastPass+. Now to avoid waiting in line for 1 to 2 hours, you have to pay a fee, it’s, if you want to have a good time fee. Now, WDW calls this Genie+ and Lightning Lane, a fancy name for “Now that you paid over $100.00 to enter the parks we are going to charge you extra money to have a good time”. “Gawrsh Golly Gee!” Isn’t this just wonderful. “To All That Come To This Happy Place…..”. Just open your wallets so we can pick them clean! WDW isn’t content that you have to pay over $100.00 to enter the parks, now they charge you an entertainment fee.

You will have to pay $15.00+tax , ($30.00 + tax for a couple) to buy the entertainment fee known as Genie+. But WDW still isn’t happy with gouging you with an entertainment fee, if you want to ride a the most popular rides, like Rise of the resistance, you have to purchase a Lightning Lane Pass for an additional $15.00+tax , ($30.00 + tax for a couple). So in essence if you don’t want to wait in line for 1 to 2 hours for almost every ride in the parks, you have to pay an entertainment fees totaling $30.00 + tax / person each day you enter a WDW theme park.

I am sorry, but for me the Magic is gone.
