Another interesting panel discussion. I am curious if anyone on the panel has read the book, “Wicked,” It’s very odd and rather dark. Not sure how much of the actual book the movie follows but based on the stage play, it was only about the last chapter.

With regard to the way Americans constantly refer to colour when referring to citizens is beyond belief. Of course history contributed to it but MOVE ON. Unite, work as ONE and aim for fairness and harmony. One can hardly hold the country up as a role model for cultural excellence when this continues. Also mixed race people are relegated to a cohort that has no clear, functional identity. There’s more to life than financial , resource superiority and other forms of power. Social stratification and emphasis on difference rather than merit/equality needs to become the focus. (This from an outsider looking in – apologies if it hurts someone)

Regarding movies today: I consider CGI to be cheating. A little bit of CGI is acceptable, because it simulates violent scenes without anyone getting hurt etc. And it can simulate mass destruction without actual catastrophic happenings.
But when movies become more than 50% CGI depiction, it becomes more of a cartoon than a reality viewing. And it isnt appealing to me because it has become a fantasy.
There are exceptions to this rule. 300 Spartans with Gerard Butler as Leonidas was one of those films fused reality with CGI and phantomed with a sepia overcast hue.
But it absolutely worked in my opinion. It was a work of artistic cinematographic genius. Because it portrayed something out of the past, a legend that is a hero for the Greek people that was beautifully done.
However, all movies cannot contain a majority of CGI. To me this is cheating. The actors are getting paid for work that they have not done.
Actors are touched up and made to look superhuman and abnormally perfect flawless and beautiful. Making real imperfect humans temporarily feel inferior.
Plus there's the "Sure, whatever" brain filter factor that will not accept the CGI cuts because the mature brain is able to discern truth from falsehood, and fantasy from reality. CGI is simulated AI and human imperfection should not be replaced by imitation robots.
