‘Disgusting LIES!’ Andrew Pierce blasts Bashir and BBC over Princess Diana interview | The Reaction

Andrew Pierce and Sarah Vine react to the BBC’s handling of the row over the tactics used by Martin Bashir to land his famous interview with Princess Diana. They speak to journalist Andy Webb, who exposed the scandal and accuses the BBC of attempting to cover it up. He says that in the US, some people now refer to the BBC as ‘the guys who brought down Diana’.

Andrew and Sarah also react to two clips showing Joe Biden’s increasing incoherence; Sir Keir Starmer’s promise to ban all forms of conversion therapy; the latest immigration projections of a population boom; Rishi Sunak’s ban on vapes and Alison Hammond taking over ‘For The Love of Dogs’ from the late, great Paul O’Grady.

  1. Is an English judge able to read all unredacted documents to ascertain if the redacted paragraphs and pages are in fact "irrelevant" to the issues in these proceedings ? And the right to redact is not being misused ?

  2. Martin Bashir was an awful and mean interviewer; noticeably always had an angle, I cant believe he blamed racism for his ego driven want to get rich off of others misery.

  3. Agree with you Andrew. Bashir wanted to create another rubbish controversial reaction Re: Racism! I am fed up with all these rubbish. They should go back where they come from if they think they are lashed out because of their coloured skin. Fed up !!!!!!!!!!

  5. I’m Australian and I’m SO SICK of Nicola Walker & Surane Jones ! Every second tv show we get from England seems to have them in the lead roles.
With such a rich history of acting in the UK it’d have thought that programmers could very easily use others for a change.
There are many “supporting actresses” who could step into lead roles.
From a UK TV loving Aussie who very much appreciates that 50, 60 & 70 year old women on TV actually look their age as opposed to Hollywood .

  6. I have been following the Trans debate for a long time now. I have listen to psychiatrists from Canada, UK, US and Australia discuss this and there has been a definite change from listening and trying to understand if it really is someone who feels they are locked in the wrong body or if there is something else at play – body dismorphia, mental health issues, sexual identity issues. One UK psychiartrist about 5 years ago was trying to get funding to research those who had transitioned and regretted it (based on clients coming to him) and had been rejected. One Canadian psychiatrist, who had been working in the body dismorphia area, said after 30 years she had had very few clients want to fully transition but her voice was no longer being heard within her profession because of her stance.

We should not be allowing our children to go through medical procedures that they may not fully understand and that can negatively impact long term on their reproductive and sexual organs. I do believe the pendulum is swinging back. In Melbourne, Australia, one children's hospital that had been at the forefront of encouraging medical interventions from the moment a child said they wanted to transition has now modified that view and suggested counselling/psychiatric services first.

The debate around the adult trans community is very different. Helen Joyce said it beautifully when she said 'identifying as a woman is only a thing a man can do. Wanting to be a woman is only a thing a man can do. Wanting to be a trans woman is only a thing a man can do.' Conversely, why are so many autistic young woman coming out as trans men? Unfortunately, we have being told we are transphobic to if any questions are asked about any of the politics surrounding this. There are some very genuine questions and debates that need to be held in relation to women, women's sport and women's spaces and the place of transwomen, who have not fully transitioned, in those places.

  7. This American strongly sides with Andrew regarding immigration.
I first visited London in 1969, but didn't return to visit until 2022, & then again in 2023.
What a huge difference in that span of 54 years. I returned to Finsbury Park and found it totally unrecognizable. Packed and so crowded now, double deck buses driving up and down the same street that was so quiet, tranquil, and so pleasant to visit and stay for my one week visit.
And now there's even a mosque. I almost forgot that I was back in England and not in some country in the middle east, or Africa!
I'm with you, Andrew, English people should not be replaced and cleansed with their culture and customs diluted or erased by foreign immigrants!

  8. Bashir is utterly disgusting to suggest the backlash against him, is racial.
The backlash is because he was being paid from public money to maliciously lie, cheat, and forge false documents, to terrify the Princess of Wales, and our future Queen, at the time, in order to persuade her to do that fatal interview.
The poor woman was paranoid, and made poor decisions, due to his evil, immoral and truly disgusting behaviours.
It wouldn't matter what colour his skin was.
It is not only men of colour whom the public despise.
People have been suitably disgusted with the likes of Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris both white.
Look at the suffering that was caused to Sir Cliff Richard, instigated by the BBC, though he was found to be innocent. He too is white.
Shame on Bashir, for making a bad situation worse, by trying to dishonestly play the race card.
Like all narcissists, just when you really think they cannot stoop any lower, they do. 😐
Because they have no conscience, no empathy, and take no accountability for themselves.

  9. I am a gay man. I am very worried as over 70% of the children who presented at the Tavistock clinic had “other” issues ie autism and personalty disorders. Any type of surgery is irreversible. I think the word conversion is so wide. I would say that any person looking for any surgery should have at lest 2 years of proper psychotherapy .lot of young people who regret having hormone blockers that are irreversible as the damage is done. I do feel we are now seeing a No surgery until they are over 21 years of age. I do feel you should have on someone from the LGB alliance to provide an alternative view. One last point i am not part of the LGBTWXY i am a member of the community.

  12. I think imigration is a complicated issue and i am not personally against it but i cant see how we can cope with so many people. Just on the basics of schools hospitals, housing etc. And i agree they have to integrate with UK culture. Also i believe if they break the law (i don't mean things like a speeding ticket) they should be sent back to the county of birth regardless (perhaps give them dual nationality and if they break the law they lose there british nationality and can legally be sent back to there country of origin) and if they have a criminal record for violence e.g rape, murder, robbery etc in there own country we should not take them.

And why does it take so long to process these people. It seems to me they should be spending the money on more people to process them and perhaps even consider a 24 hour shift system to move the process along quicker. That way it may save the goverment money housing and giving benefits to them perhaps?

  13. Absolutely agree with you concerning Alison Hammond, potentially hosting the show, For The Love of Dogs. She is absolutely lovely, but definitely not the right person for the show, and yes definitely Julian Clary should have been considered, as he genuinely loves dogs, he's funny, entertaining and had enormous respect for the late and great Paul O'Grady.❤

  14. The woman made a mistake in referencing Starmer as being super woke. You've got that back to front. The trans ideology and that of LBGTQ blah blah promote the gender identity that was and is what the woke left were pushing. Starmer as you said was on that side now he's switching camps. Teachers aren't even qualified to talk to children about such matters, parents should take their kids to mental health services if their child has issues. What is happening in Scotland? They are fighting the trans ideology and trying to safe guard their children in schools. Captured???? Steady on, and do some research.
