Everyday, Andrea Turkalo walks 45 minutes to the Dzanga Clearing to watch elephants up close. She has managed to piece together the lives of these forest elephants and is shocked to see a particular calf thriving.

The name African elephant conjures up images of a vast savannah, where the elephants mingle with lions, giraffe and gazelle. However, roughly one third of the continent’s elephants live in dark, dense rainforest. The forest elephant is a lesser known, and critically endangered cousin of the African elephant and inhabits the dark rainforests of Africa. As Natural World looks deep inside the hidden world of the forest elephant, could the new research tell us what this critically endangered species needs in order to survive?

There's a video on Y-T of a large, baby boy born with his legs bent back the other way due to his size. His Mom & others, patiently kept encouraging him to get up all the way, onto his feet. It took a long while but he succeeded. Soon…he was running around. 🥰

Please help that poor baby. Take it from the mom and do therapy on its legs he was too big for the sack so when he was inside of the mom he was crunched up so when he came out he never learned to flex that part of his feet and that’s why he’s walking like that. I’ve seen it before and if u help in the mobility of moving his feet back-and-forth he’ll regain strength to stand completely upright. This melts my heart. Please please help this innocent baby. If you don’t he will die a slow slow awful death. Or if you don’t take him at least to date the mom for a little bit of time each day or a couple days a week so you can help slicks the babies feet to get them moving so he can stand in the upright position
Not to be a horrible person or anything but as she gets older won't her own weight make it to hard to walk?
Did I miss something? Elephant calf walking on its front knees to just the heard in general as a whole moving on?
So beautiful to see the elephants living life in the forest, the wild, or the wild humans have allowed them to occupy. I hope the disabled calf has a long and happy life but I do worry how she will support herself physically when and if she is as large as her mother.

길지 않는 아기의 생명,또래 친구들처럼 뛰어 놀수도 없고,가족들을 따라갈려고 안간힘을 쓰며 따라 가겠지만 결국 언젠간 뒤쳐져서 먹이도 제대로 먹지 못한체 고통스럽게 죽음을 맞이 해야 하는 저 아기가 너무 불쌍하고 마음아프네요.
아기의 죽음이라도 편안하게 잠들수있게 해줬으면 하는 제 생각입니다…

Her back and hips must hurt terribly. They look like they do anyway. It seems cruel letting her go on like that. From the comments I saw, I'm relatively alone with that thought. I view death differently and believe our existence continues on in another form.
