The new Seekers project is pretty interesting, but I feel like it could’ve been even better as a way to celebrate the genre!

I mean technically next order was a game for this year even though it was port, i will surprise if they release a game faster than a bullet every year meaning they sacrifice the quality of there game. I don't see the purpose of having new digimon game this year, yeah the game line up is lacking bit, thinking again what your expect for toy company. And the format from that event wasn't like nitendo "direct" went focus on news every segment. For the looks of it people who disappointed was expect the event was like State of Play Playstation or Nitendo direct , went the even just bonding relationships from bandai and there fan.
I adored Chronicles X, which was also a web novel but for a 25th anniversary project having your product be a web novel to tie into whats basically a Japan only product at this point (yes the VB has an english version but they arent easily accessible) feels disappointing, like have a tie in game, movie, etc this is your 25th anniversar, most franchises don't get to that point and this feels lackluster
Welcome to be a Digimon fan XD. Get use to be total dissapointed some times and total happy another juas juas juas 🤣. I suggest always have 0% expectations in Bandai.
I am happy because this continue the story of the main world of Digimon franchise, the core world (the world of V-pets). We Will know more about two important factions, the Crack team and the D-Brigade. Some day i can explain any story if you need about digimon lore. (I am digimon lore freak).
I feel like the seekers information could be a good introduction to a Digimon MMO. It would be interesting to see a 3 faction digimon MMO with each faction having their own story and how they would interact with the real and digital worlds.
It’s a misleading to say the only way to get a Vital bracelet is though a Japanese site. While it was that way in the past, you can find these on Amazon and eBay at a fair price.
Ooo would be cool if seeker was part of the anime ghost games. I have not seen the latest episodes but I remember their been episode where the dark versions would appear like black agumon and black gagomon and another one. Like it would be cool if they were part of a side story with seeker.
Toei is probably going to try pushing the series that is taking Digimon ghost game's time slot, so they're not able to use the anime as a way to push seekers. They could just do a series of 40 minute episode OVAs, but since they're currently working on the 02 movie they probably don't think it's worth it. As for videogames, they technically are pushing it. See, the vital bracelet has a dedicated app, so there is technically a tie in "videogame". And I can see why they wouldn't want to go all out with Digimon Seekers, Digimon isn't stable enough as to be confident in putting all their eggs in one basket
The first time i saw the trailer i had though we maybe would be getting a cool thing in real life that could change specific fields into " digital space " for us to play inside of it.🕊️
I can perfectly understand why you felt disappointed, in fact outside of Seekers I was also very disappointed…..but as it is I'm very pleased with Digimon Seekers, specially since it will take the original lore into consideration, something they haven't donde since….it's being a long time.
One thing I could argue is that, virtual pets could be considered as videogames as well.
Honestly if they had just given us a tease for new games and the anime it would have been better. They could have also given us more nostalgia content and talk about how what we've already seen could guide where they are going in the future but it doesn't seem like they are showing much about the future of digimon past a few months.
Seekers was (in my opinion) the only thing worth the time in the entire event.
Think of like this
Pokémon games make up the smallest portion of there revenue being topped by Merchandising and the TCG (Yes the games while selling like crazy aren't the big earner's)
The games justify there development by both creating new fans and introducing new Pokémon every generation so Timmy gets to spend 25 dollars on his Lechonk toy
Digimon despite being accessible to west primarily markets to Japan
No seriously think about there marketing. Half of the games have never been ported to the West. There biggest product the Vital Bracelet requires you to go through third party sites to even purchase
The Digimon Con's are structured like most Japanese Convention and there was a lack of care when trying to translate to a western audience(subtitles just kept disappearing)
No attempt to release the anime DVD's in the west. The movie's which broadcast once 2 decade's ago you have to pirate to even watch.
Cyberslueth which would have benefitted from a dub especially with how dialogue heavy it was but only Next Order has a dub
They don't care about making merchandise accessible (like Plushies V Bracelet Figurines) They don't care about making a dub or at the very least providing fans a means of watching the anime outside subtitles.
So Why did I bring up Pokémon because the reason why the games exist is because everything flow's back into Merch and the TCG and Anime
Melmetal is introduced in a teaser for Pokémon Go which so happens to be promoted with Lets Go and would you look at that he's in the anime now with Ash and cool there's a plush in Walmart oh look he's on the TCG
Digimon already assumes the games will fail. Because there looking primarily at a Japanese audience. Why was Survive a visual novel that would sell better in Japan
Why a light novel …. With the added benefit of a Japanese exclusive Dim of the new Digimon. All there merchant Japanese exclusive.
If they wanted to sell it to the west but didn't want to make a whole game. Sell the Dim and V bracelet in stores add DLC for Next Order with the New Digimon or have there be a code that you get with the purchase integrate the V pet and the cheap app game which allow you raise a Digimon so you could port it into new "game"
Digimon Cards used to have codes you put into the Digivice and it let you raise them.
TLDR if they cared or thought it would make money Digimon Seeker would be a launching Point it doesn't need to be a game but X Digimon are unexplored and you could create hype and interest easily with a cross promotion of all the medium's
If read all this thanks
Honestly, I just hope a new Digimon Story game is in the works that will release here in the west. I have my copy of Next Order for Switch coming in this month. Since there's already a DS: Cyber Sleuth complete that has the two games in one available in physical format ( for Switch, at least), it makes me hope for a new storyline, although one following the events of the Cyber Sleuth games directly or passively could work as well. I feel like they'll need to increase the recruitable/obtainable Digimon rosters a good bit at least to feature Vita Bracelet or Ghost Game introduced mons and evo lineups.
How can i pre order the bracelet with the dm? Is it a jp event only?
Right now, the way I see it, Seekers is mostly just a way to promote the new VB. They did it before, back in 2019 when they released the Digital Monster X they released an online novel that continued the original X-Antibody storyline. And during the release of the Vital Bracelet, they had live action PVs to promote new stuff and explain them.
Now they're just doing both. Maybe it'll evolve into something bigger, but right now I don't expect much from it, especially an anime adaptation, cause Toei can't be trusted.
1. I still wish that the Digimon Con could revealed/teased some project in works. I like the concert and the TCG matches tho.
2. I like Digimon Survive so hearing you talk over gameplay is perfectly fine to me.
The Digimon Seekers event is a BIG deal so I wish it was promoted better at the con.
OH HEY! You did use the new digimon as the thumbnail art! lmao
As a digimon fan who knows our community and has seen the fans constantly show their bellies, beg for localizations and be happy with whatever poorly localized scraps they toss us im proud to see how many fans in the digicon chat were actually memeing on the mid announcements, complaining and letting them know what we want as fans. Our fandom has really grown up and im all here for it. We might even overtake pokemon at this rate lol. Probably not but pokemon has gotten progressively more and more mid overtime since gen 6 while digimon has been improving steadily so who knows.
I preordered the new card for VB, but even so I felt really disappointed. I really didn't expect a new anime or game, but it's the 25th anniversary stream, I expected some sort of, you know, celebration besides "product 1 ver. 25th anniversary", product 2 ver. 25th anniversary" … "product 18 ver. 25th anniversary". Yeah, seekers seems nice and I really love the new Digimon, but I'd love to have some sort of event, a special celebratory episode or heck, even if they'd localize New Century for Japanese and English.
just asking ed but did they show any new games or movies coming during the Digimon con?
Is that the 3rd part of cyber sleuth? Because they had said last year that they wanna make a 3rd part of cyber sleuth in 2023 with a focus of the olympus digimon.
The new Digimon reveals were cool
>a book
I hate being a Digimon fan
