  1. Looking through the comments, clearly some folks have a hatred of diesel engines for some reason. For the life of me, I can't understand why, especially when they say that gas or gas/hybrid engines are just fine. A lot of folks in the real world actually tow trailers or haul heavy loads, in that situation, a diesel will almost certainly emit less CO2 than a comparable gas or even gas/hybrid engine. I wouldn't recommend buying a diesel to drive back and forth to work or anything like that, but to me, they are definitely worth considering when you are going to be regularly using your truck as a truck. Right now, the relative cost of diesel is exceptionally high compared to gas, but if this returns to 'normal', then a diesel in my mind is worth a strong look from anyone who tows or hauls significant loads, even in a half-ton. A hybrid doesn't seem to help fuel economy (and therefore CO2) hardly at all when towing or hauling heavy loads.

  2. I honestly think the GM inline 6 had them beat by so far that they new it was going to be a clean sheet redesign to catch up. There's no way the "lost automotive continent of stellantis" Go green or go home attitude would allow this. Keep up the good work Tim!

  3. Tim, always appreciate your channels' timely notifications. Fortunately the legislators imposing this type of nonsense are no better at basic math than they are at understanding the environmental and social hazards associated with Lithium and Cobalt mining. Can't wait for Cali laws indemnifying workers' jobs, because the grid keeps failing at night, and they can't get to work or get kids to school.šŸ™„

  4. Kind of sad. Wish they would have updated it like GM did theirs instead if killing it. Most people agree that the GM baby diesel is a great power train and gets really good mpg and now they've made it even better.

  5. Tim, please ask a Ram rep about the Hurricane engine being offered. I just watch an interview with the Ram CEO & there was no mention of the hurricane engine. I'm curious of what's going on with it.

  6. That’s a drag! Exp b/c this motor can be ordered with all of the 1500 trims, not just the high end trims like many makers do with non-gas motors. The eco tows decent for <=6000, even TT’s so it’s a loss, at least until RAM ACTUALLY builds with the Hurricane 3L TT str-6.

  7. Odd outcome. GM, the Co with the ā€˜All Electric Future’, will be the last manufacturer with a half-ton truck with a light-mid duty diesel in their line-up. But, I guess GM is also the last to replace / give an alternative to an NA V8 too. šŸ¤”

  8. The EPA needs to be rained in. Also, Ram dropped the ball on this powertrain and now its too little too late. The mini Duramax is quite popular and GM is further investing in it, even while their sales are struggling relative to Ram's. So I see it as huge missed opportunity. Truck guys love diesels!
