  1. Glad you enjoyed Die Another Day. Pierce Brosnan was also the first Bond for me, especially for the 007 Nightfire video game. I know you'll enjoy Austin Powers. The 1967 Casino Royale is….something IMO. I haven't seen Connery's unofficial Bond but maybe it's time that I should. Can't wait to see your take on the Craig Bond era.

  2. Jen, if you are sad that this is the last Bond film with Pierce Brosnan i recommend you to watch "The November Man" from 2014 where Pierce Brosnan again plays sort of a Bond like agent, just not Bond himself. If you watch that Movie you will realise that they retired Brosnan way too early, and that he could have played Bond a few more times. Maybe you will react to that movie in the future.

  3. arguably the worst Bond movie ever. Glad that the powers that be didn't bring Brosnan back after this abomination and went in a more realistic direction afterwards (similar to the Moore to Dalton tonal change). Die Another Day was the nadir of the franchise.

  4. One of my least favorite bond movies (with a below average bond song), but not without some entertaining bits- the sword fight is really good fun, and I actually enjoyed the silly invisible car. That said, it really suffers from “too many endings” imo.. it just drags at the finale.

  5. There was an ice hotel in some country. Don't remember which though. They rebuild it each winter from what I recall. Most everything is ice on the inside too. They even serve shots in ice cups.

  6. If you really like the seriousness of Timothy Dalton's interpretation of Bond, i'm sure you'll like Daniel in his early movies at least, they share similarities. The difference with Craig is that they push the gritty and realism further, especially in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Also, the Craig era really focus around Bond himself, unlike the the previous eras, you'll see 🙂 !

  7. Happy you enjoyed it, but it still doesn't do it for me. Each Bond has at least one dud (with the exception of Dalton), and this was Brosnan's for me. Looking forward to what you think of Craig's take.

  8. This movie started off really strong, but the second half of it just fell on the floor.
It's, basically, a re-make of Diamonds Are Forever with some other stuff kludged onto it that didn't really add anything.

It was fun to see Halle Berry as a Bond Girl, especially since this is the first film she made after she won her Academy Award for Monster's Ball.
That was a dark film in which she played a deeply flawed and troubled woman, and just nailed the role.

However, after she finished it, Berry wanted to "cleanse her palate" with a fluffy role where she got to wear pretty clothes and get her hair done, and just generally have a good time.
So, that's how we got a Bond Girl who walked on the set with an Academy Award statue on her mantlepiece. 😀

  9. ❤❤❤ Well done, Ms. Moneyjenny. You know sometimes people forget the entertainment of movies and that some are just for fun. I feel #20 is an excellent example of that. Had this been the Jimmy Bond tv show CASINO ROYALE, I might have a different opinion. Lots of gadgets, some nice ladies and Madonna. Moneypenny's virtual experience almost satisfying. It made a nice exit for Mr Brosnan. Now we get to see a more serious James. Hug the beasties

  10. This movie was the 20th film and celebrated the 40th year of the series. For these reasons, the creative team put in at least one callback to every previous Bond movies. A couple of examples,:

in the Cuban clinic Brosnan picks a grape just like Connery in Thunderball.

The boat that Jinx flees the clinic is the same type as Cigar girl in The World is Not Enough.

Bond and his lady escaping from the hold of a crashing plane is a call back to The Living Daylights.

One more for the road, Agent Chang filming Bond behind the mirror in the hopes of catching him in the act with one of his agents arks back to From Russia with Love.

  11. Die Another Day out in 2002 , 40 years of James Bond now we're in 61 years of Bond and imo one of the worst Bond movies in the Series but it's not The Worst bond movie but still fun to watch

  12. ALL the previous Bond films have a scene with dodgy green-screen. I think the scenes with the lame CGI is a little bit of a nod to that, but with the newer available tech. Other throwbacks include the Crocodile Boat and tiny aircraft from Octopussy, and the line from Goldfinger when introducing the new Aston Martin "You're Joking!" – "I never joke about my work 007." The British Flag Parachute and the small underwater breathing canister also made an appearance. Pretty sure the hot spring set in the ice palace appears in Moonraker too, where Roger Moore fights off a massive snake.

The Daniel Craig Films still reference all the old films but integrated into the plot more creatively.

  13. This is not really a spoiler but this is the last movie set in the 'Classic' continuity (1962-2002) when you come to the Daniel Craig films there a separate timeline divorced from the storylines of the previous 20 films (with Judi Dench playing a different version of M).

  14. Hey Hey there JennyPenny. I always love watching you watching James Bond. Been a while since I've seen this one. Give Madonna's Bond theme about 5 or 10 years. You might feel a little different. Always love your reactions. 😉👌

  15. Great plan to watch Austin Powers and the other spy movies! I think you'll have a lot of fun!

My MVP this movie is Moneyjenny for her crystal-clear recollection of so much Bond movie trivia. She's really cut out for this!

  16. One of the biggest complaints about this movie is the poor CGI effects and I swear they get worse every time I watch it. This is by far my least favorite Bond film.

  17. A few people have pointed out the in-joke with the Field Guide to Birds by James Bond, but there’s a funny postscript to that story. After the books became unexpectedly popular, Ian Fleming wrote a tongue-in-cheek apology letter to the real James Bond’s widow in which he told her that if her husband’s colleagues should ever discover a particularly disagreeable species of bird, they should feel free to name it Ian Fleming.

  19. Brosnan killed it as Jams Bond! Along with Sir Roger Moore they are my definitive 007's. This will never ever happen, but I would love it if they would bring Brosnan back to make a film about an older 007. I think my favorite Brosnan film is Goldeneye but I really do love them all!

  20. The club that the sword fight takes place in is called "Blades", which is a Gentleman's Club that Bond spends time in and M is a member of in the Bond novels. It also features heavily in the novel version of Moonraker which this movie draws some inspiration from.
