“Shelby Oaks”, the upcoming horror movie released by Neon from Film Critic and fellow YouTuber Chris Stuckmann in his directorial debut (who also wrote and co-produced it) had it’s World Premiere at the 28th edition of the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal July 20th 2024.
I was there at the sold out screening and wanted to share a spoiler-ish review with y’all.
The spoiler-ish part:
I tell you if it ends well or not (without giving any details) so if you wanna remain completely spoiler free, skip that part.
Did I get Stuckmannized???

I’m a little worried now, to me personally there is nothing worse and more boring than a okay/mediocre movie
Talk to Me was good though. Maybe the best horror movie of last year.
Chris had 1.4 million bucks that he got through his fundraiser and executive producers, so it's not super low budget like more original and genre defying movies The Blair Witch Project, Duel, Halloween and The Evil Dead for example.
It was OK.
Cinematography was kind.
Story was decent.
Happy for Mr. Stuckman.
I enjoyed the lead.
I am definitely interested and curious where he will go next.
Tf is wrong with you, dude? Don’t say “spoiler-free” and then give multiple details about the ending. Absolutely no excuse for that.
What happens to humanity if Stuckman reviews his own movie?
Pretty much 100% with you. It's an okay film, but I can't wait to see what Chris does next.
I also thought the score was kind of overbearing at times. Like, too loud and, as you said, sometimes not fitting the tone of what happening on the screen. I guess there's still time to remix that before it hits theaters.
1.4 million to make this…. i wonder how much chris pocketed 😂
Is it just me? The movie sucks.
Neon bought it because after everything itll probably only cost 3 million. Shits going to make bank either way you look at it
This was an OK straight to video quality movie.
Level of excitement for this film: Zero.
