Bigfoot wasn’t always a household name. Back in the 1950’s, you were unlikely to hear the term anywhere outside of Northern California, Oregon, or Washington. But then, in 1958, a man by the name of Jerry Crew came forward with something truly fascinating: a plaster cast of an absolutely massive human footprint. It struck a chord with some locals, who could recall reports by miners of a similar set of tracks discovered at Ape Canyon in Washington back in 1924, while others told of old hunting stories or even other casts of prints (though they never called it “Bigfoot”). Local reporters even began to dig up old Native American legends to compare with the sightings. In1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin presented yet another shock to the world: a video tape allegedly depicting a female “Bigfoot” they called Patty walking through the Bluff Creek area, precisely where the tracks were found nine years earlier. I grew up in Northern Michigan and a friend and I saw something in the woods that we couldn't explain it was big it walked on two legs and it came towards us also hit the cabin we ran into hard enough to shack the whole thing
Well for what it is worth I lived near where the bigfoot prints were seen in 1958. I was 8 years old. A friend of the family who was a logging truck driver told my father and me about these giant human tracks on the log landing. He said whatever it was had picked up a 55 gallon barrel of oil and carried it over to the edge of the landing and threw it off as you could see where it had gouged out a place in the side of the hill where it had hit. He said it was clearly not rolled off. He was perplexed as to what did it as was the rest of the crew. A 55 gallon barrel of oil weighs around 400 pounds.
I’m from kelso 40 min from Toledo which was mentioned. I’ve heard from old loggers and stories past down from peoples grandpas of Bigfoot being pretty prominent anywhere from mt st Helen’s to Long Beach. Personally never seen or heard anything in my years hunting and camping across the state but I always hope I do. I’ve been interested in Bigfoot since I can remember it’s a big deal over here, keep up the content

My friends grandpa told us a story of when he was a kid in the 60s, his logger uncle came by during a holiday get together, and told them the story of how some kind of "save the trees" or "save the owl" type protestors would show up and like lock themselves to trees, so they would leave a man behind overnight to guard the camp. One morning they arrived and their equipment was scattered all over the place, tractors turned over, 55gal drums of diesel tossed in the trees. They asked themselves "where's John?" Or whatever the person's name was, they found him in the lodge shack up against a wall pointing a shotgun out and shaking and scared, and he told them "it was F'ing bigfoot!". Claims a "family", mother and father and son and daughter, of Bigfoot came in, and the mom/daughter one pounded on the cabin and scared him while the father/son tore up the camp. That was the story he was told in the 60s by his logging uncle. Now to enjoy the video!

I'm a scientifically minded person, I'm naturally a skeptic at heart, so I tend to take almost every "paranormal encounter" or "cryptid sighting" with a massive serving of salt, very rarely do I believe anything at face value, and when I do it's about something that is so painfully obvious, and so without (reasonable)alternative explanation, that I would feel like an idiot to do anything but dismiss it..
So, you can imagine my extreme frustration when there is a very real possibility that there are other intelligent apes in North America, and everyone on either side of the debate is so dogmatically locked into their beliefs, you'd think we're trying to prove Jesus was the son of God or something here.
Why are so-called scientists so quick to anger and judgement when people ask simple questions like… y'know…
'there are apes everywhere else on the planet, is it possible maybe apes are also in North America?'
Yeah, I get there hasn't been much(if any) physical evidence or fossilized proof of ancestry… yet.
But keep in mind we didn't prove rogue waves were a real thing until 1996; most of the scientific community didn't finally accept they were real until the mid 2000s… And rogue waves have been sinking ships for, as far as we know now: … literally all of history… Like, by the thousands.
We straight up didn't know they existed because it took until 1996 before anybody actually saw one and survived, and even THEN we still had to see it like three more times for certain people to believe the sensors weren't just broken that one time.
If these creatures really do exist, they would be living in parts of the forest so remote and densely wooded that anybody investigating their existence would have to dedicate serious amounts of time and resources to simply staying alive long enough to find said creatures or any signs of their presence.
It's not remotely outside of the realm of believability that we have quite literally just missed evidence sitting right in front of us because we weren't looking in the right places, or don't know what signs to look out for… Not to mention, with all of this "dogmatic skepticism"(as I call it) and mockery about the subject of bigfoot as a whole in media, it's not hard to believe that there is a substantial amount of potential proof that has never seen the light of day for fear of mockery from the public.
Footprint castings, tufts of hair, even fully developed photographs, stuff that would blow this case wide open, that just sits collecting dust in some old hunter's garage because he doesn't give a shit about this debate enough to put his job on the line for it.
Think about it this way: if bigfoot really did exist, and you saw one tomorrow with your own two eyes, up close, with no way of possibly mistaking it for anything else.
Would you tell a single fucking soul on the planet?
I wouldn't… You would be labeled crazy before you even finished telling the story.
Most people I know wouldn't breathe a word of the story unless they had actually shot the damn thing on the spot, and kept the body as physical proof.
So with all that in mind, how can we ever know there isn't a bigfoot, if we aren't even allowed to explore the possibility of it being real without fear of labels and judgement?
At this point you'd be less likely to start an argument if you said all religion is a scam, than if you said you think there is a slight chance bigfoot is real…
Why? why do people get so heated about such a simple question?
Surely the actual answer to the question is more important than your initial belief in whether or not it's true, right?
Currently as of 2024, personally I think the only intellectually honest answer you could possibly give is; "we do not know"
Maybe there are other apes?, there's certainly enough anecdotal evidence to make that case.
Maybe there aren't?, the lack of any currently known fossils is a pretty strong counterpoint.
Absence of proof is not proof of absence, and any scientist worth his salt should damn well know this… So therefore, the question still remains:

If you are really interested in a scientific approach to the bigfoot mystery, you need to check out the youtuber Thinker Thunker, if you haven't already. He has found several body mechanics and body proportions that indicate when a bigfoot is real and and when it is a hoax.

And yes, some tribal groups (NOT all) use the name of animals and the word person interchangeably. They call bears, wolverines, ravens, etc, their “brothers”.
But about a third of Indian tribal groups call Sasquatch demons, devils, woman stealers, child eaters, violators, evil ones, etc, and make no reference to Bigfoot as a people or as relatives to humans.
Patty’s breasts don’t seem to move like a human females would. Seeing they’re very similar I find that a little suspicious. Her breasts seem to be foam. Also, I wonder how stabilizing the footage has altered it. The sharpness is artificial. No amount of simple stabilizing will unblur nor sharpen the image. Movement while the shutter is open will cause some blurring depending on shutter speed. I also wonder if the process of stabilizing also made her foot appear to have a mid-tarsal break (?). As for muscle movement under the fur, again I’d have to ask if the stabilizing process could have caused that. I’m not convinced but will remain open.
