  1. There's no reason to communicate in such a way that will pit really good games against each other. People can have preferences & respect what other games accomplish. This ex dev's take I think is far better put and I agree that Ubisoft especially needs to change up their open world design.

  2. All i can say is, after a trove of unfinished/broken "live service" games, Its nice to have Elden Ring come out, smash the competition and butt hurt devs straight to the face!

  3. This is everybody on Twitter tho. Everybody on that platform acts like this. It's surprising that people don't like their attitude when that's how everyone else acts on there.

  4. Ubisoft (devs) complaining about performance? Ladies and gents, let me remind you of 1) AC Unity, the one remembered for faceless people, and 2) AC Syndicate, that crashed so often on my PS4 that I felt like I had to speedrun missions in hopes of reaching the next checkpoint within my allotted half an hour. And that was a year after its release. Yes, I'm still salty about that one.

  5. Generally more professional to make better games rather than running one's mouth. From a publisher's perspective, this tells me those devs aren't focused on their own work. And worse, they're focused on other developer's works which makes them a liability concern; Mainly would be worried about them stealing IP (Intellectual Property). From a developer's perspective, I'd make notes to never work with them and to actively make certain their blacklisted. Just like in the music world, if you're trashing the scene you don't belong in the scene as your talking s' about every single paying customer, and worst of all the fans. Would go on, but I'd rather get back to enjoying Elden Ring.

  6. I have a problem with the premise of "Pay to skip COMPELLING content". Content can never be more compelling than its monetary value. It would not make sense from a business standpoint to make PLAYING the content to get the reward more compelling than paying for the reward; else nobody would buy your MTX. Pay2Skip MTX are effectively content neuterers, because if you want them to pay, you have to make the gameplay repetitive enough and the rewards from playing unmeaningful.

  7. I wish open world games could let players tweak some certain UI/UX, for example, turning on/off location of interest on HUD, or even some gameplay mechanics like enable/disable the ability to pulse to highlight nearby objects.

Battlefield 1 lets you turn off HUD entirely, and I heard Horizon Forbidden West have some, too.

Perhaps the game can have some default settings you can choose, like we have in graphics. For example, "Brain Dead Mode" will give you that "good UX" twitter HUD, the character will always whining about where to go and tell you all the clues when encountering a puzzle.

  8. Personally. Eldin Ring is trash. Rehashed everything. Felt like I've fought these bosses before and the enemies are just plain stupid. Quests? Pshhh. Literally empty open world. "Caves" are shallow and about as lame as each ones boss. I don't get the critical acclaim. What did they accomplish besides making Dark Souls 4 er I mean Dark Souls 3.5?

  9. Thank god elden ring does not have the ubi UX which always feels like devs do not trust players to have eyes at all. I can find that cave on my own, i don't need it marked in 15 ways and have a character remark over it.
