  1. obviously, obviously, what happened with cadgan is that

exactly what you stated at the end… he already has made a deal with the demon and that's why his illness was restored. so hector and cadgan are both going to do the Wrong Thing because they won't just talk to each other lmao. i didn't see the original way the VN was written, but given the changes you describe, i'm 10000% sure they made that change as foreshadowing.

re: the writing, i think it was interesting how hector says that the way he feels more confident is to imagine someone else giving him commands that he can follow. Which is basically how the VN writing goes (even without choices)

(also, i just realized now that roddo IS the nerus writer. which means that my guess is probably 0% correct, there's 0% I'm actually going to be able to figure out what's happening, but all that I can know with 100% certainty is that we are all going to be psychologically f****d for this entirely journey in the best way)

  2. Ok so the demon was not where I thought the story was going, but i should've guessed that it was simply bc of the name of the VN lmao.
But goddamn it, that love confession scene was all too familiar with me and I don't like it at all, but it's fiiiiiine. And I low-key am the kind of person to just take the demon's wishes immediately cause after having my heart broken like Hector's, I'd be wayyyyy too vulnerable at that point and need to be coddled, even if it's by a demon lol

  3. Is it just me or does it look like the demon was dancing on the far side of the fire in the CG at 20:50? He would have needed to disguise himself some (due to his hooves) and the fur color patterns are hidden too but it does look like him to me.

  4. Honestly, I live, this vn has me hooked and it's been a while since I've been so excited for a newly released project. And it's mostly because of the writing, although I agree it has this "classical" book feel, mostly because of the story being divided into acts, and those are further divided into chapters. Also the style is reminiscent of MinoH, if a bit less verbose, which is good imo wouldn't fit this story. And, as Keith Ballard pointed out in his let's try, the pacing doesn't fuck around, it has a goal and it's sprinting toward it, the narrative gives almost only the things relevant to the story with minimal padding or meandering. Moreover it manages to keep me, as a reader interested, because it keeps the mysteries to me (a reader) that to characters aren't necessarily mysteries
    – like this world has magic, cool what types? Well, we know about glyphs and elixirs, but there surely is more
    – who can use magic? Anyone? Everyone? To what extent? What are the rules of magic?
    – what exactly are these demons, and how many are still around? Hector indicated things about inquisition (but that can have more conquistadorial implications) and that demons operate under specific rules. Ok, what kind of rules?
    – given the main menu art, and what Raz has shown Hector when he told our doctor to look up, what's up with this world? Is it heading to some sort of oblivion?
    – what's up with Eye Valley?
    – what's up with Manoel? The inbreeding is strong with this one obviously, but in the world with magic I'd say it's mix of genetics and curse. Also, I hope there's more to him, and not just "a person with disability being a villain, desperately searching for a cure to their condition, stopping at nothing, especially that they are in position of power"
    – and speaking of characters, what themes are going to be explored with them? Where are they going? What do they want? What will they do to achieve it? What do they need, and how are they going to change?
Like, it keeps me engaged, and interested in the world.
Ofc, there's the romance aspect of the story, but it obviously isn't going to be the typical "dream fulfillment" furry vn with big buff wolf, while at the same time it doesn't shy away from the horny side of things.
Your apprehension about Hector is understandable, although, no tea no shade, it might be your demi/ace taking. And while not having such a childhood crush like Hector, I understand, and somewhat relate to the characterization of someone being fully enamored by a person with whom you had a strong bond with romantic undertones, during formative years of your life, and said person showed you that you can be more than "your parent's perfect creation" – you can be your own person. Like I live, and see how that would lead to creating this idea of Cadgan, and the real thing not living up to said idea. That said, again I didn't mean any disrespect toward you with how you feel about him, because you're right, Hector does have traces of "fvn protagonist" with being so openly thirsty and obvious about it.
No shade to the artist/artists, but I'm not fully enjoying Adult Cadgan's sprites, mostly because of his facial expressions, not an artist but they somewhat don't feel right, but they do perfectly reflect his younger self, the rest of sprites are great, and the CGs, THE CGS are fucking FIRE , absolutely beautiful.
I'm excited to get new updates. Its first showing is so strong, I can't be anything, but curious about where this story is going, and can only hope that the quality only stays so high, or better yet goes even higher.
