DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO Strikes Texas at Night

Another DESTRUCTIVE Killer Tornado Strikes again, but this time in the Lone Star State of Texas! I’m joining by fellow Subscriber and YouTuber @JdnsChasin . Storm Chaser Gabriel and I tracked several supercells leading up to the main show. This supercell produced a massive Tornado that devastated several communities and a gas station that trapped over 100 people inside.

  1. This tornado still gives me chills. It was like a silent killer. Despite some power flash reports, nobody was even 100% sure it was on the ground, and those velocity scans were absolutely absurd to the point where you couldn’t even pinpoint a solid circulation. With that rotation being so incredibly violent and expansive, you’d expect a massive CC drop, but there was not much. There evidently were brief, shallow drops, but usually rotation that strong produces much larger, consistent CC drops.

Once it approached Valley View is when the velocity just went absolutely absurd. What confuses me even more is that
looking back at my videos, I managed to capture it at around 10:28pm. The rotation was completely
un-condensed; no funnel. Just dirt and debris being spun up. I can’t really make out how wide the base was as there’s too much contrast from the lightning and dark landscape to discern the distance. 10 minutes later though that little dirt spinner would become the deadliest tornado of 2024 and the deadliest in Texas in nearly a decade.

After shooting some video, I didn’t feel like taking any chances as there weren’t any concrete, definitive reports of a tornado despite some power flashes and weak CC drops. Those absolutely broken velocity scans were a huge no no as well. I mean at some points it was just a 5 mile wide jumble of rotation left and right. So my dad and went northeast into Valley View and sheltered in a Shell just 3 miles north of the Shell that was destroyed.

The violent rotation just barely brushed the location where I took the photo 10 minutes earlier, slamming it with some incredibly intense RFD winds.

It wasn’t until we pulled up to where it impacted along I-35 that we realized what had happened. The gas station to the east of 35 quickly became inaccessible so we did what we could to the west of 35.

    Nighttime tornadoes are a nightmare.
