Destiny 2 – THE SYZYGY! Pale Heart and Plan To Destroy The Solar System!

The Syzygy. The alignment of the Hive’s 52 moons in their home system millions of years ago. In the new launch trailer we see a similar image in our own system, the planets unfolding to reveal a lost secret. Today we are going to further analyze some images from the launch trailer, the ghost shell traveler, syzygy and plan of the witness.. why the traveler isn’t destroyed in the opening sequence.

  1. Today we further discuss the Lightfall Launch Trailer from the other day! Syzygy has popped up in multiple places, so we discuss the backstory of this word in the Destiny universe and if it may happen? We are under 48 hours away! What are you most excited for?

  2. My take on the veil: The idea that Savathun used it during the first collapse is interesting. Every time the traveller went somewhere such as to the Eliksni on Riis, it knew it was there. It even knew it was going to head towards Savathuns home planet and got there first. A veil is meant to cover something. So it would make sense if Savathun used the veil for some reason while the traveller was on earth to hide it from the witness. It would also explain why the witness is just now supposedly learning that it is hidden on Neptune. As of why the witness needs it i am not sure.

  3. My current theory on what the Veil is on Neomuna is that it’s the counterpart to the Witness, a Entity of the Light that commands the Traveller like the Witness commands the Black Fleet, a Voice Amidst the the Light to the Voice in the Dark.

Reason 1: The forces of the Light and Darkness seem to have a counterparts to each other. The Traveller is a singular, round vessel that commands the power of the light whilst the Black Fleet are multiple Pyramid ships with the power of the Darkness. So, then how does the Witness factor in? Could there be a Entity that created or represents the Light like the Witness does the Darkness? If the Witness is the Winnower, could the Veil be the stand in for the Gardner?

Reason 2: this sort of aligns with reason 1 and that’s that the Light and Darkness have antonyms of each other, and the Veil sounds like the counterpart name to the Witness. To witness is to see, to view something take place, and to Veil is to conceal, to cover, to disguise. This is also would make sense with the Unveiling lore book. UnVeiling, is right in the name, the Witness sent this lore book to want to UnVeil the truth, as it sees it, to show, in its opinion, that it’s belief of the universe in a simplistic Flower Game of finality is right and the more complex and paradoxical views of the Gardner/Veil are wrong.

Reason 3: Remember the beginning of Destiny with that cutscene involving the astronauts finding the Traveller of Mars? Well, there is a cut portion, or alternate take, of the cutscene where the astronauts find a feminine looking creature made of Light that beckoned towards them. Could that have been the beginning concept of the Gardner/Veil? Perhaps.

Reason 4: Again with the contrast to each other, it would make sense, if the Veil is the Entity that commands the Traveller and Light, why the Veil hid on Neomuna, away from the Traveller compared to the Witness that continues with the Black Fleet, to try to trick or hide from the Witness and explains that look of surprise and anger from the Witness when it touches the Traveller, realizing that it’s counterpart is not there and why it sends Callus to Neomuna, to retrieve and even destroy the Veil so that the Witness can do whatever is wants.

Just my two cents on this. Take it with a grain of salt and let’s see how it goes.

  4. What if the Syzygy was indeed a plan made by the traveller? Perhaps by creating a God Wave, the trough left in its wake could have revealed the Worm Gods. Then the Traveller, or one of it’s uplifted races, could assault the worms in an attempt to deal a blow to the darkness.

  5. Am I the only one who feels like something important is possibly going to come of Saturn in the next couple years? I do think that the pyramid ships are going to be using their gravitational powers to hold the traveler in place but I also feel as though the traveler wasn’t using this intense blast of light to necessarily destroy the pyramid(s). It almost seems as if it’s confident in it’s chosen champions of light and decides for one reason or another invite the Witness to get the answer he’s been seeking? Maybe not. Very cool launch trailer and I am super pumped for the next couple years of Destiny.

  6. Could the syzygy be an attact on Neptune? Similar to the one on Titan during the collapse. Also, I think one of the big revilations from this expansion might be what we learn about the Vex.

  7. I just noticed from the Unveiling lore book, the dotted triangular outline and the dotted circular outline from the pyramid and the traveler, make a key hole…what if light and dark was a greater power that was split into two and the witness wants to make it whole again?

  8. Now I'm wondering if Savathun teleported away some of our planets and moons to prevent a "fully powered" alignment so to speak. And can we assume that was to hinder the Witness?

  9. I guess we are assuming that The Witness was using the sisters' father's white worm familiar to whisper to the father? Aurash assumes its because he is studying in his Orrery, but maybe just being whispered to in secret? That's perhaps why it was so much more believable to Sathona when it was also whispered to her- aligning with the knowledge of her father's knowledge of the planet.

  10. What you've described as the Pale Heart reminds me a lot of the in-game emblem you can acquire from one of the physical lore books: Codex Indoctrinae.
It perhaps reminds me of something similar I think my mind has seen… maybe Dreaming City/Last Wish related?

  11. This is a pretty laid out reveal for the most part. They always try to rearrange the footage from the cutscenes but the order is simple…
    > The pyramid ships arrive
    > Zavala commands guardians to defend the Traveler at all costs, battle ensues
    > The Pyramid ships unleash waves of energy, destroy ships
    > Holladay survives?
    > The Traveler opens energy portal to Witnesses pyramid
    > The Witness approaches
    > A guardian attempts to intercept, Witness notices and uses “Reality Stone” powers to dissect him/her AND ghost
    > The Witness arrives at the Traveler’s pale heart and has a vision of syzygy that reveals the location of “The Veil” on Neptune
    > The beam of light subsides, Zavala asks “What is that?”
    > Queen Mara says “The Witness.”
    > The Pyramid ships surround the Traveler to hold him in place
    > Pyramid ships/Traveler? leave in pursuit
    > We follow to Neptune where Osiris has been meeting the Cloud Striders
    > We all have fun sending them to “the hell of being cut to pieces”

  12. Is the Unveiling artwork the Sol System? If you work from right to left there's enough circles to represent the 9 planet (If you include Pluto/alternatively one could be the Sun but scaling almost checks out for the planets). Also, they all have lines converging on what I would call Mars and we know that's significant because of the Witness cutscene in Witch Queen.

  13. I’m still convinced the traveler is the Gardener and the witness is the Winnower or at least some aspects of them. This is what the witness refers to when he says “the game is over” he’s talking about the game the Gardener and Winnower have played since the dawn of time. I’m still very much convinced that the actual being referred to as traveler is within the big white ball and that is what “pale heart” refers to. Also notice how in the trailer the witness sliced up a guardian and it’s ghost like they were nothing, almost like how the Winnower would chop down and harvest the Gardener’s plants, those plants being literal life and existence.

  14. Symbolism -> Traveler (Life), Witness (Death), Ghost (Spirit) Witness in front of the Traveler looks like an hourglass with life on top and death below. Two sides of the same experience separated by a veil. Think of cracked mirrors allowing us to see beyond the veil. What happens when that barrier no longer exists? What is the final shape if life and death are no longer separate? Would we sacrifice immortality to restore the balance?
