Destiny 2 – The Final Shape Showcase Reveal! My thoughts on the Story reveals & Lore! Is it good?

Destiny 2: The Final Shape was officially revealed today in the Final Shape Showcase event! But how does it stack up? Are the signs looking positive? Today Byf discusses his thoughts on what Bungie told us about the narrative for this new expansion that concludes the Light and Dark Saga. Will its story and lore be enough after the disappointment players expressed at Lightfall?

  1. Been away from this channel for a long time cause i feel out of love with Destiny and by extention its creators. But things wrapping up in final shape I'll stick around until the end, including watching your lore videos and thoughts of the universe

  2. I can't help to myself but these Episodes kinda sound to me like Annual Pass from Forsaken year, Black Armory, Joker's Wild and Penumbra, but with more focus on the story.

  3. Had Bungie delivered on Lightfall then I would have happily payed the full price for the Final shape expansion and season pass, however I feel Bungie are unpredictable because we know they can do great expansions but too often do they let the players down, so I have looked elsewhere to place my purchase (cd keys) at -22% lower than the asking price which is the price of a triple A game so I don't feel gutted if Bungie do under deliver, however I would have been happy to pay more if I felt confident Bungie would provide an epic expansion and season pass.

  4. I would love for them to leave out some major major surprises for the expansions itself.

I would love to see the collective reaction of an entire new enemy faction only seen inside the new raid, which will leak out once the Witness is defeated. That’s one of my biggest wishes is to see an entire faction solely formed/created out of pure darkness.

  5. Hey Byf, I took a closer look at the "rib cage" you mentioned and saw that it is actually made of arms… Ugh! Gives me the heebie jeebies.
I theories that is the work of the witness, we get quite a few refferences of the witness always being shown first from his hands and arms and then the rest of his body – also we have armor ornaments that seem to be looking like hands made of black marble which I also thought was connected to the witness

  6. I really wonder if the galaxy springs will finally be revealed and used for Final Shape, I really hope they do, it's such a beautiful location and view that everyone should experience one way or another, here's hoping they do 😌🙏

  7. I really wish they would do story mission versions of the raids. I like to play solo and it would be a nice way for people like me to experience these areas and get the gear from them. Though, I also wouldn't want it to be super hard, like my biggest deterrent from playing destiny 2 in the past few seasons is that the seasonal activities keep getting harder and harder and I don't feel like doing them 20+ times throughout the season just to get the story.

Every aspect of a game, in my mind, should be accessible and enjoyable solo and then only enhanced when playing with others.

  9. I hear you on the idea that the community has been so disappointed for so long, but as a day one D1 player, I'm also cautiously optimistic as well. Let's hope they prove it's worth all the wait.

Now drop the "season pass" model and just give us the content in big blocks, like D1? (Hey, a guy can dream, right? 😅 Love your work!)

  10. My biggest issue with the 1 narrative step per week format we get now is that the story would take maybe an hour to complete. Nothing else in the game changes each week so I ended up playing Destiny once per week for an hour, then went off to play something else. Yet they still charge 15$ per to drag out their story over the course of a few weeks. Here's hoping they can fill the void of content with this new expansion, but after Lightfall…

  11. If you look close the weird convulsing rib cage…is composed of arms. It’s freaky. Also Subjugators look more related to Rhulk. Like they were a creation by the Witness based on him just as Tormentors were based on Nezarec. The Witness might actually not be defeated totally in the raid. The project lead said we won’t confront the Witness in the raid “BUT that might not be enough”.

  12. Hunters, you get to teleport to a lightning dagger!
Titans, you get to throw axes that can be picked up and used after!
Warlocks… uhh… you get to use your abilities 🙂

That's the worst thing I've ever heard. That is so incredibly disappointing. I don't care if it's the best dps ever, it's boring and uninspired. There are limitless cool ideas to give a space wizard involving fire and or flaming swords. But once again warlocks get to summon a stupid little buddy that shoots stuff for you. 👏 👏 👏 great work bungie

  13. I'm glad to see bungie actually listening for the new season structure and story fixes! I am happy to see change but I'm still on the fence. I wont be preordering but I will be looking forward to see this final chapter in the the long ten year epic.

  14. I'm just annoyed that bungie is using the new supers as the excuse that there's no new subclass so the can focus on the story. Why? They did it in forsaken. But in forsaken it was more than just new supers it was an entire perk tree. So it felt like a new subclass. But now its only the super and an aspect? Really all they have to do is set it up like forsaken where it is a few side missions or side story where you can choose to do that first for the new subclass or go straight into the expansion story. All im saying is if this flops again they'll have no excuse this time.
