Destiny 2 Lore – Why is it so hard to Destroy a Pyramid ship? Are they indestructible?

Destiny 2’s Story and Lore tells us about how hard it is to actually destroy a Pyramid Ship. Rasputin has tried multiple times to defeat the flagships of the Witness’s Black Fleet and has failed. So are they indestructible? Perhaps… Perhaps not…

  1. I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work. Even when I don't actively play Destiny, I do love to listen to your lore videos. Truly well done. I would never have known Destiny had such deep lore if I hadn't come across your channel.

  2. Do we know for sure that first excerpt is actually Rasputin? I know it's from D1 but could it actually from the perspective of the witness? Perhaps it's an account of the moment the witness sided with the Darkness

  3. Y’know what would be funny? If one of Cayde’s caches had a weapon that could defeat a pyramid and Cayde’s notes are just “idk why this thing came with a description stating it can destroy geometry, but it’s probably somebody’s thing”

  4. Byf, i have loved your recent videos and it has all reminded me of one of the best games to ever be released, infinity blade. I think it would be an amazing idea to make a collab with the archivist and infinity blade studios to do a series on it.

  5. Well, Rasputin isn't paracausal at all. It was crafted by mortal humans supported by the causal tech given by a paracausal entity(the Gardener). So, kinetic, physical projectiles aren't enough to take down a pyramid because they can be stopped. They have energy, kinetic energy that allows them to move, and that energy can be taken away.
So, what we Guardians need is a weapon that has NO energy, but can gain energy at a moment's notice. Which means smuggling something into a pyramid that has the destructive capabilities to blow a pyramid apart, or getting some of the City's geniuses to make something that can pass harmlessly with no kinetic energy through the pyramid's barricade and then explode, etc.
Another option would be something that has energy and motion, but NOT kinetic energy. As in, something purely and totally paracausal, not bound by the limits of energy and motion that physics gives to physical objects. What do we have that can be exactly that, in the right form?
    Light.
    A Guardian's Super.
Edit: It’s 3am and my brain is going haywire. If both Asher and I are correct, it means that a big enough blast of pure paracausal energy would be able to destroy the Witness, the Black Fleet, and perhaps even the Darkness itself. However, since during the first Collapse the Traveler was only able to drive away the Witness and his forces and not destroy them, this attack would need to be more powerful than the Traveler’s self-sacrifice.
And who did we know could harness the Gardener’s power in ways we never saw and could never even imagine, in ways unconstrained by “class” or “element” that were never used or shown or even mentioned in-game, though evident through the presence of a Ghost in Destiny 1, possibly because those powers were simply too cataclysmic or strong to reveal?
The Speaker. The Witness’ Light counterpart. Who was he really, underneath that mask? Who was he, to claim to speak for the Traveler? Just a Guardian, or just a man, or something more? He never showed a single part of himself, no skin, no face, no hair, nothing. We know less about him than we do about the Black Fleet itself.
But he’s gone, whoever he was, because of Ghaul, and there hasn’t been another Speaker in the 5 years since the first died.
We need a new Speaker, for either a Guardian to inherit the mantle and the approval of the Gardener, or for a totally new or totally unexpected character to rise to the position.
And I think it would be the coolest thing ever if in either Lightfall or The Final Shape, we heard the Traveler speak words, with a voice.

  6. Destiny needs to let us have a choice during lightfall to stay with the Traveler or join the Witness and the Darkness. I need me some of that witnussy. Oh and enhanced Dark powers too I guess.

  7. Hearing that lore entry about rasputin's fight with The Witness really makes me think him being the "sole survivor" was intentional.. Him "dropping the bodies of millions" was what a lot of people describe as abandoning humanity and essentially the sword logic itself.. Only the strongest survive

  8. The similarities of our Planetoids and Asher’s weapons disappearing, and the Taking process have led me to think this behavior might become the basis or part of the thematic palette for a future Darkness subclass. Especially if the Psionic Nightmares and Deepsight concepts are also throw in.
The isolation of matter, the destructive gravity wave attacks, the creation of ireal entities, the manipulation of corporeality, dimensions, and information. Even the egregore’s capability of linking of thoughts and across cosmic distances. I feel like all of these concepts line up to create a solid range of powers to build an element out of.

  9. Audio feedback:
The recent changes have definitely improved the overall quality of audio in these lore videos. The volume is better, the words clearer, the bass present yet not overwhelming and there's next to no ambient noise. All that said, there's minor distortion persistent throughout each video. I think it's in the high-mid frequencies. It would likely be caused by the EQ settings or by having gain set too high. That's the main teething problem I hear with the new audio set-up. Otherwise, it's definitely a step up.

  10. I just watched Evade’s video on the prophecy that was in Rhulk’s pyramid. You know with the symbols? What if you read it backwards. If you do it also kinda makes sense. The blank on the last line could represent nothing

  11. Its interesting that inside the pyramid on the moon the cloaked figure is feminine in appearance. And Rasputin refers to the Gardener aka Traveler as female. Could there be a connection there? And we dont know what is inside the Traveler. The Witness seems to be Male-ish in form. I wonder if the Traveler is the female counterpart to the Witness. If so, is the statue in the Pyramid some kind of reverence or memento to the Traveler?

  12. This is a huge long shot, and there may or may not be a possibility. But I’m spitballing here in case no one else does.

What if we find a way to cut off the pyramids from the Witness?

If we can’t destroy them, what if we could take some over like the one in Europa?
