Elden Ring is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game is a collaborative effort between game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, and is scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.

Elden Ring takes place in the realm of the Lands Between, sometime after the destruction of the titular Elden Ring and the scattering of its shards, the Great Runes. Once graced by the Ring and the Erdtree which symbolizes its presence, the realm is now ruled over by the demigod offspring of Queen Marika the Eternal, each possessing a shard of the Ring that corrupts and taints them with power. As a Tarnished — exiles from the Lands Between who lost the Ring’s grace — summoned back after the Shattering, players must traverse the realm to ultimately find all the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord.

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective and features elements similar to those found in its predecessors, the Souls series as well as Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but will eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the vast open-world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game’s progression — similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls — and will be explorable using the character’s mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system will be an available option. Throughout the game, players will encounter non-player characters (NPCs) and enemies alike, including the demigods who rule each main area and will serve as the game’s main bosses.

Combat in Elden Ring relies heavily on character-building elements found in previous Soulsborne games, such as calculated, close-ranged melee-based combat with the use of skills, magic abilities, as well as blocking and dodging mechanics. Elden Ring will introduce mounted combat and a stealth system.

  1. Hey Brad, you actually walked past a map fragment a couple of episodes ago. When you were in that area with the red sky and the dragon, just besides the merchant there was an obelisk with the map

  2. Wish you took a more conventional path and explored more of the nuance in the game instead of just farming, adding to vigor, and constantly using charged-up attacks. Ranged weapons and the samurai class would have been perfect for your series and would be more fun for you to play and for us to watch in general.

  3. Brother you have to unequip some stuff because you’re what souls veterans call “fat rolling”. Your equip load is higher than 70% of your total carry weight. That’s why you get hit so much when rollin fb and it’s clunky.

  4. Hey Brad, love your content..if you want to take on enemy one by one from a group..consider using a bow..they are powerful..you can also kill a lot of enemies without getting hit..it is a great weapon to hit enemies from far away…

  5. I was teleported to an area deep under the ground, with electric balls thats kills me. I must light 7 fires or so….but im stuck and cant get out of this area. Even cant teleport to another location. I only see the underground map. Sooo frustrating , but i like this game

  6. I know it's probably too late for you to see this but I'm 19 minutes into the video and I need to point this out – your dodge roll is affected by your encumbrance. The stronger you are, and the less shit you're carrying (weight, not item count), the faster and farther you can dodge roll. Right now you're not quite fat-rolling but you've got a slower and less effective dodge & roll because you're weighed down with a bunch of shit. Go shed some excess weight and you'll be better off in fights.

  7. To address what you said at 16:40

Personally I expect sequel games to upgrade, whether it’s visually or mechanically (preferably both) and from what I’ve seen of Elden Ring (which is a lot) it looks exactly the same as Dark Souls 3, with the one exception being that you now have a steed. Lol.
Other people can do what they want, and I’m not saying that you can’t or shouldn’t enjoy this game, but personally I’m not really into the idea of paying $60 for a game that feels like one big COPY PASTE of the last game I played, and that’s why Elden Ring is disappointing to me.
Just not my cup of tea.

    (PS)
That being said I’ll continue to watch your play through Brad, 😉
But I do that mostly just for your reactions. Lol actually most of the walkthroughs of games I watch online, I watch specifically because I intend NOT to buy them. Lol if I’m going to buy a game then I prefer not to spoil the whole thing beforehand.
