  1. I say this every time the abolition of slavery in Mexico gets brought up by people.

Vicente Ramon Guerrero who abolished slavery in Mexico was never legally elected in Mexico and was put into power by a coup started by Santa Anna. Guerrero was eventually overthrown himself in 1830 and was executed by firing squad in 1831 while Santa Anna was on the run. He made a personal decree that slavery was illegal but no such law was ever actually recorded or enforced.

Complete and total enforcement and recording of the out law of slavery in Mexico didn't happen until the Mexican Congress (elected after the fall of Santa Anna in 1836) passed the resolution for it's complete banning in 1837. The Texas revolution is fun to blame on Americans infiltrating Texas with their slaves but it's much more nuanced than that.

Just take the 2 figureheads of the revolution, Stephen F Austin was a slave expansionist who believed completely in white supremacy. Sam Houston was a centrist who believed that states should decide if slavery was legal and never owned a slave during his time in Texas. He was even was removed as Texas Governor because he ignored the legislatures vote to secede from the Union.

  2. you should do another tier list video soon it’s been a while, maybe “Historian Ranks War movies Pt. 2”? there was a lot of good movies missing from that list and some new movies have come out

  3. I would be really interested in seeing Vlogging Through History look at some of Knowing Better's videos about the "Standard American History Myth". It would be interesting to see his perspective on what KB presents. They are usually pretty long so it would need to be a series.

  4. You should definitely react to the Sons of Liberty short series that the History Channel made in 2015. It’s of course a little dramatized but a seriously intriguing perspective of the events leading up to the American Revolution and honestly gives a lot of credit to unsung revolution heroes.

  5. I'm not sure what triggered this wave of geohistory on YouTube these recent years, but I'd like to credit it all to Bill Wurtz. Hard to imagine other content creators extensively using maps to explain history prior to, and as much as, he did.

  6. I don't know if this is something you do but have you ever thought of doing the HISTORY of all the US Territories? Maybe teaming up with one or the other history channels. I am from Puerto Rico and did a history paper about the island for my history minor. So I can help if need it.
