  1. Funny how while one department worked on Deathclaws as powerful shocktroops, another was working on the giant mole rats as infrastructure saboteurs to be dropped into China

  2. Deathclaws are awesome, but it's hard to see them truly becoming a dominant species. Their physical abilities and capacity for cognition would probably require a HUGE number of calories, more than the blighted landscape of post-nuclear Earth could provide in the long-term…

  3. My very first Deathclaw encounter was in Fallout 3. I saw it, took out a missile launcher, and slammed a missile into its head. I then promptly yelled “what the…” when it ignored the blast and promptly ripped me to shreds.

  4. Inspired heavily by Dungeons & Dragons' Tarrasque, and originally conceptualized to have fur similar to the appearance of a werewolf.

The most bizarre thing is that they are, apparently, forcefully evolved from horned chameleons. That is the original canon, that is my preferred canon.

Goris is my favorite talking Deathclaw, an educated badass through and through.

  5. I remember the Lone Wanderer was once able to clear out a Deathclaw infestation of a town north of DC. He used a special type of crossbow that fired darts that slowed them down dramatically and then once the Deathclaw, began to follow use Frag mines and Plasma mines to finish it off. Rinse and repeat.
