CORRECTION: I mirrored the ships (the torpedoes shoot towards the islands, which should have been starboard, however the islands are set to port). It’s my mistake, something went wrong during the rendering and I had to re-do the render right before uploading. I should have postponed the video for a week and simply missed a week of uploading, but I only caught the mirroring error after I published the video. It’s a shame, the video took a really long time to create and now there’s a silly mistake in there with the islands + torpedoes. U.S. carrier islands are always on starboard, not port.
USS Wasp (CV-7) was a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier commissioned in 1940, built as a smaller, more vulnerable counterpart to the Yorktown-class. Initially deployed in the Atlantic, she played a vital role in supplying Malta before being transferred to the Pacific in 1942. But her journey was far from over…

That has to be one of the most effective torpedo spreads fired in the war (in terms of number of hits).
I used to have a female neighbor who father was on the Wasp. He was buried at sea. Boiler Room technicians, instant death during kamikaze attack. Boiler rooms are 6-7 decks below the main deck.
For those interested, when the Destroyer USS O'Brien finally sank all hands were saved, however when the Japanese submarine I-19 was depth charged a bit over a year later, all hands were lost.
The USS Helena is a light cruiser not a heavy cruiser, and you seem to have mistaken your port and starboard several times…
Iam a Solomon islander ,I love to see these videos, these help me to hear and see the reality of what happened. My father was 8 yrs old when all these happened. He told us some scenes about this famous war.
On one scene, he was swimming in a pool of a stream with some elderly men were also present as guards when they were suddenly visited by a troop of America soldiers in camouflage uniforms. They were searching for strayed Japanese soldiers and downed pilots. They conversed and left disappeared in the forest.
In another scene, he was sitting on branch of a tree by the beach when he saw the American warplanes in flying formations flying so low from east to west, back and forth celebrating victory day. He was blown off with the branch by the turbulence caused by the planes.😂😂😂. He said he won't forget the experience.
Thank you.
How about a little ship the history of the Yarra and Australian corvette that took on five Japanese cruisers
great stuff mate
Good animations, as always, and excellent narration. Really puts you on the edge of your seat!
I've often thought what the Pacific War would have been like if the IJN had put the same effort into developing a submarine force as the USN did. If it did even HALF of what the US Navy did, the march across the Pacific wouldn't have been so easy. Can you imagine Japanese subs regularly getting loose in the US/Hawaii/Australia supply chain?
Could watch this ten times over. Fantastic stuff.
The whole video is wrong!!! The uss wasp was the only vessel sunk in its task force the rest of the torpedoes hit a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT fleet and thats where the north carolina and the destroyer O'Brien was at. You can watch another video on this topic on youtube and pls rework it
I think the animation is wrong when the torpedo hits the three ships.
The wasp was hit at point blank range by the sub whike the remaining torpedo spread that missed the wasp, travelled a few mikes until the torpedos end but at that distance, it managed to hit the obrien and the battleship north carolina.
Very amazing video . I have gone through your videos your narration and animation is quite impressive. Also can you make a video on USS laffy that survived 52 Kamikaze planes .
the worst luck.
This man pours his heart and soul into this fantastic site and all some of these assholes can do is complain.
Port….starboard….listen to the dialogue firstly…..and enjoy the animations, they are simply that. Storytelling props.
Thank you Sir for what you do, I personally am much appreciative.
would like to see the unsung heroes of the Camel Hump route
Everyone should read First Seal by Roy Bohem, he gives an eyewitness account.
Fantastic work again and my only criticism is that it was far too short and I could watch these all night long! I appreciate your building up the playlists too and best wishes from the banks of the River Mersey. 🇬🇧☘️🙏
Inaccurate
12:01 the side of the rocking Wasp looks a bit odd and 2D, but the video was very informative
Your world map left out China.
Cover the battle of pfaffenheck a fierce last ditch battle in the Rhineland region between the US 90th infantry and the 6.ss nord
Outstanding work as usual! Know that the "Few" haters… i meant Critics, below… Do Not speak for very many of us!!!
Absolutely lovin the whole "Battle 360" type vibe videos!!!
More… More… More… please! 😊
And Thank You for all your work!!!
No worries on the error – still a great post of an often forgotten engagement. I anxiously await your next posting. Keep up the great work!
At the beginning, the narrator said "torpedoes to starboard". But the animation showed them coming in to the port side???
Port left
Starboard right
Any chance you are interested in doing a video on the battle of Lepanto? Halting the Ottoman advance. Would love a video on the battle.
I-19 definitely gained a huge amount of xp for that attack run
Narration is fairly good and accurate but the animation is terrible. It looks reversed. The island on all US carriers are on the starboard side. The animation shows the island on the port side.
amazing video
