Death Drive – Sigmund Freud | Urdu/Hindi

By 1918, Sigmund Freud conceptualized a new model of libidinal economy in the body upon observing repetitive compulsion and resistance to cure in the analysands and patients of war neurosis. He divided bodily instincts into two types: Erotic instincts which compel humans to seek unity and stability and destructive instincts which he calls death drive in his book Beyond the Pleasure Principle and this seeks disruption of order, security and stability in life. According to Freud, Death drive is the unconscious motif to return to an inorganic state before life. However, Jacque Lacan considers a state of undead as the object of death drive in which the subject is stuck in a permanent state of intense enjoyment. From unbridled consumption to waste, death drive finds wide scope in today’s capitalist societies.
