This is a re-upload as the last one got a copyright claim, blocking it in a bunch of different countries. Hopefully this one skates by. Thank you!
Who is your favorite fearless hero?!
Time to re-favorite this
Death needs to comeback for Shrek 5
Idk if anyone realized, but deaths whistle is the beginning to Ring Around The Rosey, which is a reference to the black death/plague that was probably going on at the time. It also is a nod to how death comes for all. Ashes to ashes, we all fall down
Great vid sage, tremendous analysis for great film
PLS MAKE A VIDEO ON JOHAN LIBERT FROM MONSTER
Bro death is the kind of villain we just don’t get anymore
I dont think death wanted teach puss a lesson about valueing life, seeing as he said (more or less) "why did I play with my food" after he realized that puss is no longer the arrogant hero that did not value his life and laughed in the face of death that he wanted to kill, he just gave up
boy do i love these bands, W video 🙂
Call me crazy but I’ve always imagine that Death always found the soul of a life with substance more taste full than a life wasted and preferred souls with actual flavour.
Going by that logic I believe Death in the movie stalled for as long as he could to try to add some flavour to Puss’es soul after the last 8 left him with a bitter taste, only to realize that if he killed Puss at the wishing star he’d be robbing himself of a good meal.
This video now has 8 lives left. Make good use of them.
Imagine creating a sequel of the highest grossing film for 10 years only to be beaten by cat with a metal toothpick
i dont even like couscous but that food still looked really good
Such a great movie
‘Life once told Death, why do people love him, and Fear her, and Death responded; because you’re a beautiful lie, and I’m a terrible truth.’
“Legends live on, only men come to a end”
-Commissioner Gordon
“Nobody wants to die, but everyone gets to.”
-Riddick
Can you do a video on Hank Voight from Chicago PD?
This is the second time I got unsubscribed, why YouTube?
"Death is inevitable, but its appearance depends on the type of life you've lived" that hit different. I'd like to think, that while you might be at your strongest, when having lived a fulfilling live with people you love, death also loses some of its terror as some of it is you being confronted with your regrets and living a good fulfilling life tends to leave you with less regrets (ideally). Loved the video!
When a sequel to a spinoff that wasn't very famous has me considering life and existence and love and the story for weeks after watching it in contrast to a lot of big budget films these days
"You know, I'm not really a cat person. I find the very idea of NINE lives absurd. And you didn't value any of them. So why don't I do us both a favor and take this last one now?" – Death
I just love how death positive the movie actually is. Death isn't bad, it's just the thing that gives life its value and should be taken seriously.
Can you truly appreciate life, if you don’t fear death? Because with that fear you come to know gratitude for the time your given. I love this movie and it’s messages.
This was a great video Sage, if you want another anime/movie that cover life and how you live it is cyberpunk edgerunners
For the Cave of Lost Souls, Death saw Puss actually changing. He saw a glimpse of the Hero that values the lives of others. But he also how complete jerks the Past Lives and the reason they mock Puss is because he cared for others. So when we see Death reappear, he wasn't angry at the current Puss but at the other Lives.
How the Past Lives and Death interacted with Puss is kinda meaningful. While the Past Lives seemingly show concern at the end, it's something born out of selfishness. When Death cruelly chases Puss, he actually gave Puss another chance to earn back his right to live.
Death: I'm not a cat person. I find the idea of nine lives to be…..absurd. You know who should deserve another life? A little girl selling matches on the streets, a mermaid with a broken heart, a young couple who lost their lives due to a ridiculous family feud.
I love entities of death that respect and value life. Between Lobo and the Matron of Ravens from Vox Machina, it’s just such a fascinating and nuanced approach to death that doesn’t demonize it.
Death should be acknowledged and respected, not feared. It’s not evil, it’s just the way of the universe.
Actually brought tears to my eyes. Amazing work Sage.
The movie needs to win an Oscar
Tell this day my favorite scene was the bar scene you can see that puss had a total of 8 shots and then you see a 9th cup appear and then when death appears he's holding the 9th glass with puss face in it
I hope you get a chances of watching wolf rain
I saw this before:
But I think wants geinus about the Wolf is that he represents The Three Archetypes of Death/Grim Reaper: The Adversary, the Hunter, and the Friend.
The Adversary: The opponent that you have to overcome to prove that you have grown if you want to live
The Hunter: The relentless monster that chases you down. No matter where you go, how far you run, they're on your heels
The Friend: The last smile you see, the warm chuckle and a friendly face that eases your pain as you welcome the end
With the Big Bad Wolf? He's all three archetypes by the end of the film
Isn't it wild that a crippling fear of no linger living stops some people from truly living
When I watched this, I didnt see the wolf as a threat and even when he whistled I thought it was not that threatening but until he actually was close to killing boots and following him around through the journey, the whistle seemed to becomes more and more scarier.. idk it just seemed that way
"Puss in Boots, loved by one and all, died alone."
That sounds more depressing than it should be
The fact that Death is not played for laughs AT ALL is great
I think it's lost on Puss that death already killed him 8 times before. This isn't the first time he's come looking for him.
I hope one day you discuss about the Philosophy of Demon Slayer. Because that manga also brings the message of Keep Living no matter how cruel or hard it may be.
Puss actually is dying that way death appears to him I think one of death powers is fear
I think death aura is what made puss afraid the first time he meet him
