“You’re further arrested for causing death by dangerous driving.”

Imagine hearing those words. The sinking feeling. The disbelief. The horror at your life changing irreversibly.

In the final part of our ‘Start Listening’ video series, we see a young man hear that news, a woman accuse officers of ruining her career, and a man adamant that he hasn’t been driving… as his car is pulled out of a ditch.

Our drink drive operation is still ongoing, and roadside checks will be continuing across the Christmas period and into the new year.

So we implore you, PLEASE listen to what we’re saying. If you’re going to have a drink, leave the car keys at home.

It just isn’t worth it.

  1. It shows the mentality of these people when they try to blame the police for their own actions. It’s also disgusting that they’re always more concerned with themselves than with the consequences to others. Ruining others lives by their own selfish actions.

  2. This is a very hard hitting video and needs to be shown on tv screens. It's amazing how stupid some people can be getting into a vehicle after a drink or more. It's not worth it. The message is very clear. Don't drink and drive as it can destroy so many lives.

  3. Exactly the reason I take the car to work the week before Christmas every year. There are that many drink drivers coming out of Edinburgh on the A90 at 01:00 it’s far too dangerous to take the scooter. So many near misses with these clowns, when will they learn!

  4. There's a muppet in a town where I used to live that was on his 6th ban for driving whilst intoxicated. Punishments need to become a lot more severe.

    Personally:

    1st offence: 6 months inside, 5yr ban.
2nd offence: 1 yr inside, LIFETIME ban with 5 yrs inside if you're caught driving thereafter.

  5. This all starts with teaching our children they are special and the most important person in the world. They grow up entitled and selfish. We need to go back to good Christian values eg. Honour your father and your mother;love your neighbour as yourself.

  6. Being a former drinking driver in previous years it terrifies me to think of the damage and hurt my actions could've caused… thank god there was police out there to see my misconduct and remove my licence until I seen the error of my ways …

Thankfully I remained peaceful and caused no lasting pain

  7. No one's gonna mention the guy admitting he's lost his licence for causing death by careless driving and then getting caught drink driving?
I reckon that takes the absolute cake for unbelievable stupidity on this or any kind of Highway Patrol tv show.
