  2. I have to ask – you're talking about the 2023 Tacoma, but I can't imagine that anything announced in August is going to be anything about a 2024 model. (they've already started building all 2024 models in production). I was to get a 2023 Corolla Hybrid, but as they build it now, they build order states 2024.

  3. I remember when George Lucas threatened to blacklist toy stores who’d sell Episode 1 merch before the movie released. I would love Toyota to do the same, because I am not paying 65k for the GRRolla

  4. My 2020 J-VIN Toyota was a problematic & poorly-built vehicle on several fronts, so I ditched it in early 22 for my first Mazda & have been 100% problem/issue free for 18 months now. Both Toyota & Honda are coasting along on an outdated reputation for quality these days & have really backslid over the last decade. I used to love both companies, but do not trust either brand these days.

  5. Looking around the internet I found a Toyota dealer in Cumming GA that currently has 15 pre owned 2023 Sequoias and all of them are 10k minimum above MSRP. Makes you wonder if they’re turning their new inventory into preowned just to charge whatever they want.

  6. Even if the manufactures Want to sell directly to customers they can't as delaerships and politicians cozy up together and block that plan.

  7. It depends if the dealership is in a state with a distributor or supplied directly by Toyota Motor Sales. Toyota has largely pressured the dealerships they handle directly to prevent them from selling most vehicles over MSRP.

In the states served by Southeast Toyota Distributors or Gulf States Toyota Distributors, which includes Texas, the dealers have been more likely to add a “Market Adjustment” or high priced worthless add-ons. Toyota has wanted to buy out the distributors since the 1970s in part to prevent such problems.

  8. Toyota is not going to "get a handle on this. In fact, they're complicit in it because they too are getting more profit per unit during these times. They have zero incentive to ramp up production to help reduce prices for customers when they know that well-to-do customers will pay up no matter what. This is the new normal for Toyota. Speaking only for myself, it has already soured my desire to buy a Toyota when I can get a comparable vehicle from another Japanese manufacturer for a significantly lower price.

  9. I Need to buy car for my Family But when thinking about Going to Dealerships Stress us out Over price Markup. Shut them down , let us buy Direct for Toyota Manufacturing please 🙏🙏👍👍

  10. Two weeks ago a Toyota sales person said to me “I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t mark up the prices to what the market will pay”. I left and have no intention of returning. Ever.

  11. Dealerships are ruining all legacy auto manufacturers. Tesla’s pricing structure is transparent vs the opaque game playing dealerships. I always feel cheated after buying from dealership..

  12. I have three Toyota dealerships in the area. Last spring looking for a new Rav4 hybrid, one dealer wanted non-refundable deposit, wouldn't commit to a price or markup limit, and made it clear that wanting a lower end model without add-ons meant that they didn't care if my vehicle ever came in. Another wanted to sell me a 3 year old with 30k miles for $4000 over new msrp, and added markups to the rare new one that they had come through.

The nearest dealer did no markups because they knew that people would leave with a bad taste and they wanted to be in business five years down the road. Refundable deposit, no hard promise on when a vehicle would be in. 2 months later I had it. They even deleted their usual $800 paint protection junk fee when I asked.

There are still good dealerships out there. Search, and support the good ones.

  13. It’s was not easy or fun process. But I did just buy a new RAV4 3 weeks ago. At MSRP, no mark ups, no add ons, no trade in and at 4.99%. Hope this becomes a sign of a market shift.

  14. Stealerships. I I'm only buying straight from manufactures in the future. So I guess I'm buying a Tesla next or Rivian. Shame on you Toyota for letting this happen. I'm done with dealerships.

  15. Dealerships need to go away, but they’re only partially to blame; customers that pay the markups. If customers don’t pay dealerships will be forced to lower prices. Also I remember who in my area was marking up and will never give them business in the future.
