The Tornado is one of Mother Nature’s most extraordinary phenomena. These intense, rapidly rotating columns of air can attain wind speeds of more than 480 kilometers per hour and have been witnessed on every continent except Antarctica.

In this episode, we’ll focus on a part of the world that has been popularly known as “Tornado Alley;” a vast stretch of the Central United States that experiences an unusually high frequency of strong to violent tornadoes each year.

  1. It seems that a tornado is one of the worst natural disasters but this may be due to the influence of the Wizard of Oz. A tornado seems like a phenomenon one can escape from? Not sure as I’ve never experienced one. Any firsthand tornado witnesses out there?

  2. when the cold front moves so fast it rides on top of the hot air cushion, it spawns a tornado if the hot air is trapped from rising. as the system breaks down, cold air being warmed. or cold air being trapped from sinking. maybe that location for the funnel. but if there is many holes for exchange of air. tornado becomes impossible. or there maybe many tornadoes. we can control it, but we dont.

  3. We live in Nebraska, part of tornado Alley. We average 55 tornados across the state each year. Always a certain sense of dread when the sirens go off. Omaha Nebraska had a direct hit by an EF5 tornado in 1975.

  4. Look, im sure you have great information, but if youre going to tlak about things in the US then use real units of measure. Ya know, like MPH, miles, feet, inches, etc instead of fake BS. We dont use "metric" so talk about US use proper units of measure.
