Deadly Bombing in Iran Kills Dozens as Tensions Rise Across the Middle East

Twin explosions in the Iranian province of Kerman killed dozens and injured hundreds Wednesday at a memorial for top Revolutionary Guards general Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a U.S. drone strike four years ago in Iraq. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Iran has placed blame on Israel and the U.S, while U.S. officials and regional experts have suggested ISIS as the culprit. Our guest, Iranian historian Arash Azizi, discusses the potential sources of the attack, the scale of the tragedy — which occurred on Mother’s Day in Iran and may count among its victims civilians visiting their mothers’ graves — and fears of wider war in the midst of Israel’s ongoing violence in Gaza. Azizi, who has authored a book on Soleimani’s assassination, calls the double blast “one of the deadliest — if not the deadliest — attacks of its kind in recent history.”

  3. While this gentleman is certainly an expert on the issues he is discussing, for everyone watching it is important that you know that he sympathizes with Zionism and he is also close to the Iranian royalists and nationalists, which have nationalist racist very anti-arab philosophies and have close ties with Israel, at worst and usually they are far right and at best they are neoliberals. (just check his tweets)

  4. Why do Muslims kill each other? Because Muslims' enemies are not only Christians, but fellow Muslim figures themselves have different beliefs, Sunni & Shia. And Muslims are also willing if their holy book the Koran is torn apart by facts in biblical history. That's the source of conflict in the Middle East & in the world. Any cooperation between countries will be destroyed if it collides with religious issues.God bless Israel 🇲🇨❤️🇮🇱

  5. Israel has a history of false flags and assassinations. Israel has tried to get the US to destroy Iran for decades because Iran supports Israel's victims including victims of perpetual regional wars for Israel's Balkanizing Oded Yinon Plan. Israel liked did this bombing.

  6. Iran is right to put the blame on USA and Israel. Behind the so called ISIS or so called Islamic State are Israel and USA. Keen O'Keefe had proved that Israel is behind "ISIS", "Islamic State". It was Israel's terrorist attack as a revenge of Iran's death penalty against the some Jewish Mossad secret agents, spies or assassins. Keen O'Keefe had said ISiS really means Israeli Secret Services. Also the Roman Emperor Hadrian had said that the Jews are using hidden and coward methods in their war against the Roman Empire.

  7. Arash, it's woman, life, freedom. Not women. The singular woman , not the plural women. Also, Soleimani was one of the most powerful men, not man. In English plurals are used by either adding an s or es to the end, or in case of irregular plurals, they have a different word, such as man/men, or woman/women. If you are going to write a book about our global freedom movement, then please do your homework. Do you understand? Or do I have to keep reminding you that woman, life, freedom is not just a slogan that you can use in any form that suites your broken English. People have died for it.
