  1. there is a big reason the government fiddles with markers and replicates them: they can apparently be used as a power source. It's the modus operandi of markers: entice a civilisation to replicate and spread them wide to solve the energy crisis any advanced civilization will face until the whole civilisation succumbs to madness and necromorphs. And it did that countless times already, hence the name of the game "dead space"; they are the reason humanity made no alien contact, because all other civilizations advanced enough died to the markers.

As for the "Make us whole again" I doubt its weird to hear in-universe: the church of unitology was around way before the markers really screwed with people (way more than a hundred years), and unitology is the dominant religion of humanity at this point.

And yes they do take your pancakes away in the sequel. Considering you start said game in a straight jacket, it makes sense XD

Speaking of, dead space 2 is worth a play. One of the enemy types DEFINITELY is the nerve-wracking kind, and you feel less like Isaac is a moron as he tries to push the marker's hallucinations away instead of falling for them.

  2. I think you should play Last of Us, since it’s now on PC. It basically solves your main issues. Much better characters that are already with you, so u get attached and more consistent gameplay, where enemies can still be dangerous, but not bullet sponges

  3. lol, I listened to these play throughs rather than watched them so it took me until the final hour of the game to notice the "remastered" character designs. They made Nicole look like a middle aged guidance councilor lol. That's such an embarrassing design decision. The first game and the 2008 animated movie that came out with it can show you what Nicole looks like. Kendra Daniels got a similar treatment. They basically put both original character models in an AI generator, ordered it to make each look 20 percent more like Moe Szyslak and called it a "remaster" lol.

In plain English, the people who made these new character designs aren't professionals. Not really. No light shaders in the world will fix a female character model that has both recessed cheeks and somehow also the chipmunked face and neck/chin arrangement of someone with a BMI of 25+. The anatomically incorrect spacing of the philtrum and nasal bridge areas would still be off putting even if the chipmunk issues were resolved. People used to go to art school specifically to learn how to not create characters like this. After the current trend of fagautistic spinster design/Digital Cal Arts style expires all of these people will be burying their contributions to these wokemake titles in the absolute bottoms of their portfolios or just flat out scrubbing them entirely.

Personally, these character models belong in the unity asset store for middle aged back ground characters with the description that they'll make your named NPCs and player character really pop out by comparison.

  4. Of course they had to make the female traitor a hero, and all the males either evil or stupid.

If i remember correctly, the original Daniels was constantly gaslighting the player/Isaac that Hammond is some kind of an agent or has nefarious purposes (Hammond didn't exactly do anything to make the player less suspicious). Then Hammond vanishes, only to return to redeem himself in a heroic sacrifice (not a dumb death like in the remake) while fighting Bob 1.0 or an oversized version of him (whatever it was, it was definitely much harder than the pathethic Bob 1.0 Arch was fighting against, but it might also have been me playing on hard). Daniels, on the other hand, turns out to be the agent, and her motives were definitely not portrayed in such a positive light as in the remake.

In the end, she still died smashed by the giant tentacle, but for whatever reason i can't remember right now, her death felt justified. Here, she's portrayed as the only sane one, trying to fix everything, and Isaac is to blame for screwing it up.
