  1. Hey all! Just wanted to say thank you for the support and sorry about the audio levels in this video. At times it doesn’t sound the best, and I attribute this to being in the middle of reworking my setup, working with a mic stand for the first time and being far too close to it. A couple of you have pointed it out, so I just wanted to let y’all know I am aware of the issue and it will be fixed for next time! Thank you! 😀

  2. …the remake opens up with Nicole looking 70 and sounding like an actress merely reading the script… which is Motive dropping the ball in a major way. I absolutely did not feel anything while listening to her 'final message' to Issac. But hey, at least we know that corected-Kendra has a girlfriend!

    …literally perfect my ass…

It's good because most of the game is 1:1 with the original, and because Motive implemented melee capabilities, weapon alt-fire mechanics, and traversal mechanics from Dead Space 2. Their only additions were the circuit breakers and utilizing current computing power to allow backtracking throughout the entire Ishimura.

And fuck EA for the shit they've pulled. First they murder a franchise through sheer stupidity, blame the original studio for the failure they caused, then they dig up the corpse of that franchise to make a blatant cash grab.

It's essentially 90% remaster in spirit with Motive Studios political views making a cameo.

RE2 and RE3 are remakes. This is essentially a remaster.

Can't wait for the DS2 remaster to see Ellie Langford as a 60 year-old with gray hairs and jowls, to tackle that gosh-darn MaLe GaZe and gain approval from the almighty Anita Sarkeesian, and sounding like an actress just collecting a paycheck.

Kendra has the same expression throughout the entire game. Same goes for Kyne. Both bland and boring. Especially Kyne. So boring that I didn't even notice his race-swap until the end of the game.

Whoever played Jacob Temple (reprised role?), Benson (reprised role?), Danvers, Elisabeth Cross, Supervisor Dallas, and other random audio logs… all gave better performances than Nicole, Kyne, and Kendra… WTF?

Ironically, I actually liked Kendra a lot more this time. Much less bitchy this time. Her motivations were obvious in the original.

But hey… at least we know Ariel Rousseau used pronouns… cuz… that's… pertinent…

And it's funny how many SJWs on Twitter keep claiming that people are complaining about the bathrooms. They can put that straw man to bed. Because I and I'd like to say most folks didn't even notice the damn bathroom signs until the SJWs pointed them out.

And all of that nonsense is just Motive pandering to the public in response to the Hogwarts Legacy media coverage. I'm more concerned with Nicole looking 20 years older than her 50 year-old actress who looks much more attractive and youthful than Nicole.

Her performance is jarring and doesn't make sense for someone saying goodbye right before her death of despair. Aside from that she just sounds disgruntled and inconvenienced whenever Tanya Clarke even bothers to convey emotion.

It's even more jarring because Tanya Clarke took over the role of Nicole in DS2, and gave a superb performance in that game.

DS2 Tanya Ckarke and Remake Tanya Clarke are completely different people. I can't be the only one to notice this.

  3. I absolutely love this remake, but I definitely can't call it "perfect" due to technical reasons. If they smooth out the performance a bit and do some bug fixing, then I'll consider it to be perfect. The game is just way too buggy at the present time to be called perfect.

  4. Wanted to let you know that Necromorphs aren't supposed to look like anything in particular. They always look like a mutation of the species they are infecting.

Necromorphs are basically a signal from the Marker that alters the bodies of random people.

  5. I don’t think they should do DS2 remake they should just do a new dead space 3. Knowing EA by the time they get to making a new three they will repeat the cycle and meddle with the formula again.

  6. I think Isaac's real nightmare begins when he learns Nicole is dead because he never knows if one of the necromorphs he killed used to be Nicole. Spends all his time looking for her only to later learn he may have boot-stomped her for pulse rifle ammo three levels back.

  7. Dead Space remake is amazing 10/10 but Dead Space 2 still the best and cant wait for that to be remade. Dead Space remake did have minor things I didn't like which was Nicole looks older than her age, emotion from the characters were a little off, Hammond not being voiced by Peter Mensah, and couple of rare glitches.

  8. I don't know if someone else already commented this but another game where dismemberment is useful and a core mechanic is metal gear rising revengeance but that's an action game and dead space is a shooter so dead space is still pretty unique. Granted is mgr you're more often chopping enemies into little bits but there are certain enemies where it's useful to widdle them down and chop there arms or legs off but it's still quite different from dead space, just thought that felt worth mentioning.

  9. Hello my friend. I also did a review on this game because, like you, I was VERY worried about EA's involvement too. It was the only review I have done that has got full marks from me 10/10. Motive knocked it out of the park with this and with the rumours of them wanting to remake the sequel, I am beyond happy. This review was way more in depth than most and you have my respect. The editing was also very good. Congrats on a really great, well put together video and one of the best reviews on Dead Space I have seen. I have finished the game multiple times at this point and the new Soldier RIG was just WOW! My next task…the Nightmare Mode haha, wish me luck. As I said, great job, keep up the good work 👍

  10. Im just glad EA didn't mess with development in this remake. The publisher is almost always the reason something goes bad and its very well-known fact that EA's involvement in development itself tends to ruin the game.

  11. My new favorite dead space.
I do have two things that I think are a step down from the original, though in every other aspect the game is perfect.
    1. I do not like the change in dr Mercers eventual fate. His death in the original was more fitting than in this version.
    2. I feel like some of Hammonds voice acting delivery was too subdued. Some times he was good, sometimes he seemed like he was just reading a script.

  12. Great video, you definitely point out how the remake improves on the original by leaps and bounds but I have to disagree on just one of your weapon observations. I admit that in the original, the flamethrower was basically useless. However, in the remake, it’s one of my primary weapons and here’s why: when the flamethrower is fully upgraded, the alt-fire flame wall is a game changer because it has the ability to trap multiple enemies in it’s flames, which softens their limbs for easier dismemberment. I highly recommend it against the pregnant Necromorphs and the swarmers they produce as well as the other creepy crawlers that will drain Isaac’s health.

  13. I would say the game crashed on me twice, when I never remember the original crashing on me even once.

Also they removed an enemy (the acid puker) and replaced it with a different flavor of "usual Necromorph" that can blend into a group and hock loogies at you from a distance before you even know what's going on. Not that the original didn't do that whole "blending into the chaos, and next thing you know you're being attacked from an angle you weren't watching," thing. The cast of attackers feels less diverse

Avoiding spoilers, I also feel like the ending goes around it's elbow to wipe it's butt; Closing plot holes that weren't really that big of a deal in the first place

Other than that, no notes, great remake. Now get to work on Dead Space 4 before you remake 2!

  14. Fast legal fact: Your feet are technically considered lethal weapons, in the court of law.

Given the right circumstances, even an old lady could kill you with a well placed stomp, even a geriatric one!
