My buddy and I filmed the old casino a couple months ago. I'm surprised tge Vegas news didn't announce the demo.
They had much lower minimums than any place on the strip or even downtown.
Pretty sure the CRT monitors were part of the security system – or they could have been some display. Like maybe Keno boards. They were probably replaced with flatscreens and put in storage since it's a hassle to dispose of them (they're actually considered hazardous waste). There's a place in the San Fernando Valley (in SoCal) that sells old hotel furniture, as well. I bought a pretty cool coffee table an ashtray, and a pair of extremely comfortable and well made arm chairs that came from the Beverly Hills Hotel there for really cheap. Also – there's a prison right behind this hotel. I'm sure that hotel got busy on the weekends during visiting days (I learned the hard way never to stay at cheap places near prisons – not exactly a nice crowd).
There's a Terrible's gas station in Parker AZ.
I think I speak for all. Would love to see more shower scenes.

The giant chevron gas emporium across i15 is worth stopping at. One of biggest gas stations in usa and lots of stuff inside in gigantic store.
Across the Freeway in Jean was the Nevada Landing, demolished in 2010. I stayed at the Gold Strike once, it was really dirty and yes I used to stop at Primm from Los Angeles in the 80's & 90's,. Caught your other sad video there on Primm. I grew up with Terrible Herbst in the 70's, they are not just in Nevada.
I was just in Las Vegas, one interesting thing I saw on the news is that they want to build a new airport there in Jean, I bet when they do that they will build more hotels there….lol

I stayed there as a kid with my family. We were driving back home to the Bay Area from a road trip vacation (don’t remember where we visited) and my parents wanted to stop since it was getting late and the rooms were $19.99 per night. My brother and I were so excited since my dad got 2 adjoining rooms so my brother and I had our own room and beds! It was amazing! Our first order of business was to jump on the beds back and forth. We went and played in the arcade while our parents went to the casino and we were supposed to meet back at the room at a certain time. My mom won the most she ever had which was $800 and she only played the lower cost slots. It was great memories from my pre-teen family trip.

The money is inside of the TV's, the Big Money when you slice your hand off and have to go to the hospital. 📺🔨Bums have done this to get the 5 dollars inside.
I stayed there cause I can just drive up from LA and walked in to get a room late. It was cheap too. Then it is just easy to drive to Vegas in the morning for the various trade shows like CES etc. There used to be another casino called Nevada Landing across the other side of the I15, and provided shuttle back and forth between the 2 casinos. The casino had a homey feel, and I have caught a few shows as well. They even had a good New York steak deal, and I remembered the price at $6.99 (wow, when was that?). I did see a development plan on Jean by the Mirage Group, and it looked back then that Jean was going to be something great. Don't remember the time frame, but I am sure it was before the banking crisis.
I have been inside that hotel once back in 2010 when it was functional . They used to have the Bonnie and Clyde death car inside there and now it's been moved to the nice hotel casino across the highway.
I drove past a couple weeks ago and saw an SUV parked on the side of the road. Should’ve figured it was you vloggy vlogging!

They can use that old building to house homeless at least it’s not wasted, there’s so many Veterans homeless that needs help, why not help them, instead of demolishing them, those billionaires out there use these building converted to house the homeless, at least you do something for someone 16:14

Terrible Herbst bought a bunch of properties and named them that in Nevada. There were convenience stores and gas stations with slot machines. Good old "Old Nevada"
That cold air is from the concrete. If concrete doesn't have an outside source of heat, i.e. HVAC or sunlight, it will absorb the cold….or rather "give off" all it's heat.
I stayed at the gold strike in 2016. It was a weird very weird place. The entire staff was russian. Whay did i stay here, well i was driving from San Diego and made many stops along the way. By the time i got here i was nodding off and simply couldnt drive anymore. It was probably 1 am and i couldnt make it the extra 30 minutes to vegas proper
Stayed there with family in 2016. Everyone working there was a blonde russian girl in their 30s. Odd 🤣 they also had one of the old bat mobiles
There is a store here in Phoenix called Irca, they get a lot of their furniture and that from Vegas and other big hotel chains. The first couch and TV came from there. The couch came from the Venetian and I don't remember what hotel the TV came from.
how about they donate the furniture to help those living in shelters furnish their place once they find one.

I think I took a nap in the parking lot one time I was too tired to drive to Vegas from SoCal. It was dead back then, but I remembered their super old car collections on display.
I was just there. I stayed there a few years ago. I loved being able to find a room during CES 20 years ago without reservations. Like 50 bucks a night. I loved the view. I was sad they closed.

I really do hope they recycle that furniture and stuff. You could easily upcycle and make profit with some paint and creativity!
I stayed there in 1995.
That old casino was a landmark location in my life while I lived in Vegas. Years ago, my grandparents would take us out there to the desert then finish by having lunch or dinner at the Gold Strike’s Gold Rush cafe. It was pretty good for food coming from a filthy casino. Never been to Nevada Landing before, which of course was across the interstate, and demolished. They had plans to completely develop the town of Jean with housing, as well as a new casino on the old Nevada Landing site but then the recession happened, and that killed the development plans. Gold Strike survived-Partially……
In 2011, the Gold Rush Cafe in the Gold Strike was closed down. They still had the Bonanza Buffet, but it wasn’t as good. They also removed a major portion of their slot machines. The hotel tower also was closed down. Right when the Herbst family bought it, the place was already fading away.
