The latest Magic the Gathering set Foundations just released, and this video captures some day 1 deck lists for both Standard best of one (Bo1) and best of three (Bo3) that pushed players into mythic rank. It is still early but this is to provide some initial ideas. I will be back with our regular scheduled metagame breakdowns with the cumulative deck statistics of what is the new tier 1 decks.

  2. Hey All – tried 3 times to record without a couple coughs but this was the best I could get. Caught the flu and it is beating me up bad but wanted to get something out at least for day 1 decks. Hoping my voice is better for future videos but couldn't mute in time on all the coughs.

    Also it is early on, these likely won't settle as best decks, but is to share ideas of what people are winning to reach mythic with in the first day.

  8. I disagree with the notion that this set is weak. Along with Elfball, we got a midrange-y Ezquisite Blood and some powerful cat support.

    In my experience, Sheltered by Ghost is used as removal rather than protection. That being said, it makes a deadly combination with Enduring Tenacity.

    As for me, I’ve been trying out Rakdos Demons in Bo3 featuring Harmless Pact.

  11. The burn control deck is neat. I've been trying to get Hidgetsugu's Second Rite more consistently with a slightly different list that runs Artists Talent, and several discard 1 draw 2 cards to more easily filter out lands, and more white based board wipes. Works much better than you'd expect (about 40% winrate after 50 games), and absolutely destroys that mono black discard deck.

  13. One thing I don't like is I don't believe the alternative art will work with versions of the card from previous sets. If that's so then that's not very good considering all the reprints. No I'm not going to craft 4 copies of a mythic I already own so I can purchase alternative art. Perhaps I'm wrong though. Does anyone know if this works or not?

  17. They did a good job with this set I think. None of the cards are particularly strong in a vacuum, but there are lots of cards that take existing decks and take them to the next level.
