  1. Like the others, I also hope Grant finishes the other expansions. Even Soulstorm, maligned as it is. He would just love all the fire the bolter b- ahem Sisters of Battle bring to the fignt.

  2. Glad you liked the game, can't wait to see you play the others! Kind of funny how you had the opposite experience Jayborino had where he just ran into Sindri near the beginning.

I would almost never take the damage numbers on units as any indication of their effectiveness. Hell, the Squiggoth says it does 2k damage, and when you have it attack an HQ building, it sure isn't doing 2k per attack. One of my main complaints with this game is beyond the tooltip saying what armor type things are good at, it's really hard to find out accurate damage numbers.

  3. a wish to see him play dark crusade or soulstorm more thant the other one because of the risk like mecanique, and also the tutorial that spawn every new camp, even if you beat the game 10 time already

  4. Congratz on an epic conclusion of the campaign. When I played the final mission the last time, sindri suicided into my starting forces after what felt like five minutes.

Quite the bummer after I had an average of at least one hour per mission on the previous ones =(

  5. I really love the choice of whirlwind tanks:
    1) That number is dps, so it's actually solid damage per volley vs. infantry
    2) Great range makes it easier to deal with the… aged pathing
    3) Knockback and huge morale damage make enemy infantry USELESS
    4) Cost Efficient
    5) Computer players don't walk past you and target them (which is what makes them bad in multiplayer)
    6) VOLLEYS OF EXPLOSIONS ARE HECKIN' COOL

  6. The Demon does eventually come up again… but not until the second expansion… of Dawn of War *2*.

Thanks for the series, looking forward to when you do the expansions. 😉

  7. It's been a joy watching this, it really has. DoW was my jam as a kid, being my intro to 40k and both my elder brothers introduced me to the greater franchise*, and I really do hope you venture into WA, the first X-Pac (and also the only story-based X-Pac, as the other two swap the campaign into more of a Risk-esque campaign map.)

B'yeah, if you do decide to take that plunge: You get two short campaigns, and both feature the debuts of some of the franchise's most fondly-remembered characters.

    * – The eldest accidentally collected a bretonnian army because he was big into knights, and it was in the era where GW was comparatively cheap, and the other was big into the 6E armybooks for Fantasy. Can't blame him, those books were fantastic.

  8. Grant: gives his space marines almost exclusively flamers—the shortest-range weapon that puts them right next to the enemy.

Also Grant: recruits a bunch of inaccurate artillery for massed barrages.

Also also Grant: man, these whirlwinds are doing a lot of damage… to my own troops.

37:46 never change, Grant. You are truly mindmelded with the generals of the Imperium!

  10. So now that you are done. I will tell you. as you attack some units their morale (The Blue bar) degrades. Some weapons drain morale more. Sniper Rifles, Artillery, flamers. they deal extra morale damage. When morale is broken (That red flashing ring that appears around the models in a unit), they take extra damage from all sources. So breaking morale and then hammering makes the kill time faster. Basically almost serving as support units. Some factions play with morale more than others. Space Marines have some of the best morale breaking weapons as you have seen. Thats why the Whirlwind even though it has low damage is okay with its knockback. just in case you were wondering. It was fun to watch someone approach the game from a new first time angle.

  11. So the Dawn of War expansions are funny because they are story continuations but their own thing, Dark Crusade and Soulstorms and simple 4x mixed with Dawn of War and Winter Assault is a new campaign.

  12. Grand finale! Glad you had a good time with OG Dawn of War. I hope you give DoW 2 a shot, the two expansion campaigns are SO SO good! I replay them every couple of years

  13. Workers stop costing supply in the newer games. Now there's a cap. The Imperial Guard one is considered the best one. Toughest. Fastest builder/repairer. Okay melee. Though i think only one can work on something at a time.

  14. "No Grant, you do NOT ''Micromanage the economy to maintain as low a number as possible to reduce inflation and bloating, for optimal marine production" when we have nothing to begin with, AND WHAT DO YOU EVEN MEAN WITH MARINE PRODUCTION?!?!" -Grant as an economic advisor

  15. One thing to point out too Grant, in DoW the game honestly encourages you to build a spread of different units.

So things like Whirlwind spam isn't so good because the knockback pushes the units out of the aoe from the other shots.
Whirlwinds are basically CC and damage reduction for your army.

Really for Space Marines they are very straightfowards, wanting to very quickly go into fully upgraded Space Marine Squad spam, with Predators, a whirlwind or two and some dreadnoughts if needed. In Dow1/Winter Assault going full ranged terminators is also very good.
Also, I highly suggest not attaching your main heroes to units that don't fulfill the same roles, so Gabriel being melee with a ranged squad sucks, whereas if he is all alone he can solo keep an enemy unit in melee.
