Dave Ziegler No Sells Raiders Next Quarterback, Marcus Johnson on Raiders Offense, NFL News, Ep.158

Welcome to episode 158 of The Autumn Windbags!
This is the first full week with no NFL with the Super Bowl in the rear view mirror. So the question of the day is, what did you do with your first full weekend with NFL? The guys discuss XFL, old school football and Soto waiting four hours for cotton candy.
Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler went on @BussinWithTheBoys to discuss multiple things. The big takeaway was Dave Ziegler saying, “… it doesn’t mean we’re going to have an immediate answer this year (at quarterback.” The Windbags discuss if the draft will help, are the Raiders headed to quarterback purgatory and what we can learn from last season.
Guest Marcus Johnson from @tapedontlie joined the Windbags! MJ addressed on what Derek Carr did and didn’t do well last season and why Derek Carr and Josh McDaniels is a marriage that clearly doesn’t work.
Marcus Johnson discusses what future for the Raiders at quarterback will look like. The key is going young and keeping NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Davante Adams happy. Dave Zielger is very good at predicting how a draft will play out so going young is important.
Soto asks MJ about Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson.
MJ discusses CJ Stroud’s ceiling. MJ believes he’s a quality quarterback but is his ceiling as high as other prospects?
MJ also addresses how much Davante Adams can bring the best out of Anthony Richardson.
In free agent quarterbacks, Marcus Johnson discusses the possibilities of Jarret Stidham, Aaron Rodgers and Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback.
Between Davante Adams, Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow and Josh Jacobs, how do the raiders skill players fit into a pending quarterback.
Marcus Johnson thinks the Raiders offensive line can be good this season. He questions Dylan Parham moving around at the line. Andre James at center is still weird. Tom Cable ruined so many things on the line especially Alex Leatherwood.
Derek Carr is projected to go to the Jets, Saints or Panthers. MJ thinks he belongs with the Panthers.
In What Up, Windbags, the guys look at Mac Jones, Rex Ryan as defensive coordinator and why would Jimmy Garoppolo come to the Raiders?

  1. I have no faith in this regime or ownership. Year 1 they said were going all in then Year 2 they seem to be in complete rebuild mode after giving extension to numerous players. I am sorry their plan seems to change week to week day to day.

  2. RJ & Soto I think I kinda agree with both of you. I don't think we can really speak on Zs failure yet. I think he's done his job the best of his ability so far. You lock up Mad Max. ☝️ Aquire Davanta Adams ✌️We needed Pass Rush so you rolled the dice on CJ. 👌I honestly say I would have done all those things. They were good moves even if CJ has been a bit of a disappointment. That's a risk you take when you pony up in FA.

McDaniels on the other hand…he's been horrible. He's had some really nice to play with and he did't get it done. Cmon man… one of us would have been able to run this offense to a .500 finish. I'll agree we were a little overrated with some lucky breaks the previous season. I think McDaniels screwed the pooch and scape goated Carr. He's gonna require a rookie qb who won't question him or a spineless yes man who will do whatever he's told. AR 12 wouldn't work out here if he came and I really believe it would be because of JM.

I don't wanna hate on the man but this looks like his stint in Denver all over again. If he wants to take Richardson at 7 look out. The sheet storm is coming.

  3. RJ is correct I am sorry this regime seems to not know how to evaluate talent if they could why was Josh Jacobs playing in the Hall of Fame game or why replace Yannick Ngakue for Chandler Jones. When we were putting heat on the QB all last year. I am sorry they have no clue what they are doing. What proof do we have the Ziegler is a good GM or that McDaniels is a good HC? There is none.

  4. Funny how RJ is all inpatient and demanding with what the Raiders organization is doing right now but yet with Carr he had all the patience in the world and didn't demand anything from Carr although Carr was terrible throughout his mediocre time with us! Bias af! 💯 Smh😏😏

  5. The Raiders had potential to be better . They made the playoffs with an interim coach. That never happens. Last off season was almost just like this one. They needed to build a better defense and o line. Instead, they brought in SIX running backs and pieced together a defense and threw the o line together last minute.

  6. Negative thinking?? You really said that Juan 😂 when you speak so negatively about Carr. What you need to do is really dig into the actual root of the problem with the Raiders. Something I never hear you do. Instead you sit there and bash Carr as if he was the only thing holding the Raiders back. It starts with ownership and trickles down. Figured someone who covers sports would understand how that works

  7. Ziegler made moves to trade away for Adams with the hope Carr would be better, … Chandler Jones was a bust move yes, … but Carr sucked … now he's gone, .. It's a rebuild because we have to replace our QB … and because Mayock & Gruden wiffed on HIGH Draft Picks.

  8. You want elite something well it sure ain't this coach and his Buddy . You are sold on a false sense of security. Time to open your eyes and face reality not wanting to think this is going to be great because of these idiots that the village idiot hired. Look at his decisions he's made since his father died.

  9. The part that makes your show different. That thing that sets your show apart from others….is the back and forth. The coin is the raiders….RJs on one side Soto is on the other. Don't change. The animosity adds an excellent element 👌 👏 👍 love watching never miss an episode.

  10. I think what Ziegler is saying is that he's not going to break the bank on one guy, like an Aaron Rodgers, just to hope that Rodgers can help us win a few more games and save Ziegler's job. He wants to build the team the right way, and to do that, we need money. I also think that QB purgatory would've been hanging onto Carr and continuing to pay him more and more money for mid-tier play. Better to sign a QB cheap and use that extra money to bring in free agents who can, together, really make a difference. Carr fans like to keep trumpeting that Carr wasn't at fault for our losses because it's a team game, but that just supports the argument to move on from Carr so that we'll have more money to build the team. If we do it right, then we can have a Mr. Irrelevant QB, and we'd still win games.

  11. Don't know why Juan doesn't go solo. I've been following Raiders since 1967 AFL. RJ Clifford's takes are what you would expect from a teenager that doesn't really understand ANYTHING fully. He's a distraction to the actual insightful views of Juan. Frankly, close to unsubing because RJ is getting harder & harder to take… He's incapable of understanding when he is WRONG. Start your own channel Juan, I'll be there.

  12. Marcus is the best. Soto I agree with everything you said today. RJ sometimes you remind of that kid down the street that rides his bike to the store but he’s not really paying attention just day dreaming then crashes into park car.
