All tv appearances in the 1960s and ‘70s by famous bands were lip synced, by contract. The standard recording contract back then included a clause that they couldn’t play on TV without lip syncing because so many bands sucked live. I saw the Stones do “Honky Tonk Women” on Ed Sullivan and it was lip synced.
