Dakar Senegal and Goree Island Tour

Today we visit Dakar Senegal and Goree Island. This has been our favorite stop in West Africa and we had an excellent guide, Pape. We see the slave house on Goree Island and the sites of Dakar city.

  1. Hello Mike and Nancy, awwwww, I'm so glad the trip is getting a little more enjoyable..it is sad to visit and learn the dark side of history…. it has more of an impact when you see the places in person….thank you again for sharing your experiences with us ❤❤❤

  2. I love that you all had such a good experience! Senegal is definitely on my travel list. Yes…pouring libations (water or alcohol) for the ancestors is big in the African/African American community.

  3. That area was interesting and just watching, it was very emotional. I think one visit would be all I could handle as well, I really like the statue of the mom pointing to the past, while the child was pointing to the future, that’s touching too! Again, thanks for sharing

  4. Just a beautiful island 🏝 thanks for sharing. We have those lobsters in Grenada. Those are the caribbean lobsters😂tropical. Pouring the drink on the ground and floor is done in my country for our ancestors. Grenada was one of the islands in the caribbean where the slaves were taken.

  5. Hello Nancy and Mike! It was great seeing you two just as I was about to disembark in Amsterdam. As a Canadian, I hope you enjoy our east coast. I have yet to see Newfoundland and Nova Scotia myself. Thank you for being such great people and sharing your vlogs. Have fun with the grandkids!

  7. As we watch this video, your ship is about 2 weeks away from Miami. WOW how time flew by, such unbelievable and memorable memories you will take home with you. The dreaded part is approaching..yes..having to pack most of the possessions you will take home and deciding what to donate or just discard. Be strong and we will continue to follow your journey no matter how long it will take for you to share with us. With loving thoughts ❤❤❤ lil and John H.
