  1. A bit of clarification on what I said about "God hates sin but loves the sinner" etc.: The Scriptures say both things – that God hates sin and the sinner, and that God is loving, merciful, and forgiving, desiring that no one should perish, but that all should repent and be saved. I think what we are dealing with here are the two "wills" of God: His proper will (love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, etc.) and his "alien" will (righteous wrath [and hatred] of sin and the the one who sins]. BOTH wills are the will of God, it's just that God's "proper" will is love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness — hence God's proper desire is that ALL should repent and be saved. But, we must not kid or deceive ourselves, God's "alien" will (wrath against sin and the one who sins) will be poured out on those who reject Jesus as their savior and stand before God naked in their sin and guilt.
