Daily Mail columnist Andrew Pierce reflects on Liz Truss’ time as PM, one year on.
Mr Pierce said: ‘Liz Truss, remember her? You should, because today is the first anniversary on September 6th, 2023, of her installation in number 10 Downing Street, as Britain’s third woman Prime Minister, that went down well, a mere 44 days, making her by a long way, the shortest serving Prime Minister in British history’. ‘She was dumped by Conservative MPs after the markets were spooked by her mini budget which promised to cut taxes, what a nobble ambition for The Conservative party. It used to be the ambition of every conservative party leader, that of course is when, The Conservative party was conservative. ‘So the question I’m asking is this, a year after the Tory party panicked and dumped their third ever, woman Prime Minister Liz Truss, who promised tax cuts, she promised to cut income tax, she promised not to increase corporation tax, she was forced to abandon all of those promises, before they dumped her, and getting rid of that rise in corporation tax, how well did that do? Astrazeneca are opening their new factory not in Britain as they promised, but in Ireland, where corporation tax is 12%, and this government [The Conservatives] have raised it to 25%. The question I’m asking is, were the Tories right to dump Liz Truss?

  1. Liz Truss is like the very plain girl in school. Quietly jealous of those with better talents, looks and personality, she is; Incredibly Dull, Incomprehensibly Obtuse and Talentless. Acronym.

  2. Rejoin the single market – Brexit has been a disaster & we can't keep pretending otherwise. But no grovelling about it! Germany & France need us to help them counterbalance to the eastern block EU members

  3. We need to understand that being at the top of the pyramid of creation means that everything we do trickles down the structure, from top to bottom. When it reaches the bottom, the inanimate level of reality, from which everything grows, it changes it. If we ooze ill-will, it creates negative changes throughout the system, which manifest in increasingly extreme climatic and geological events.
In other words, when human relationships go out of balance, everything goes out of balance. When our relations become extreme, everything becomes extreme; when we become violent, everything becomes violent. Each summer, the ramifications of the linkage between our relations and our world become more extreme, until we acknowledge that everything that exists, exists in a connected, hierarchical system and that whoever is at the top determines the state of the rest of the system.
It is not as if previously, we were better people than we are today. It is simply that there were fewer people, and therefore fewer elements that exude ill will.
Also, relationships between people in the past were less toxic than they are today. While there are fewer wars today than ever, the levels of suspicion and alienation between people are skyrocketing, to the point where people can no longer trust their own family members. As a result, wars between countries are rarer than ever, but divorce rates, domestic violence, and violence in the community, are at an all-time high.
Even the internet, which we invented purportedly in order to connect people, is being used to abuse, deceive, and exploit people. The world-wide-web proves that everything we create, we use against others. When there is such a negative element in a system, and that element is at the top of the system, how can the entire system not go awry?
Therefore, if we want the weather to cool, the sea-level to drop, and the storms to subside, we must cool the fire and calm the storms between us. Mutual concern, mutual responsibility, or at least the knowledge that we are dependent on each other, are necessary in order to restore balance in our world at all levels, from the ground we walk on to the hatred in our hearts.

  4. Liz Truss being kicked into touch by her Party was so much bigger an issue than was appreciated at the time – at some point it will be recognised as the final thing that broke democracy in this Country – furthermore Westminster and the mainstream media is full of people like this guy who either fail to understand the subject they are talking about or else deliberately misrepresent it – inflation generally speaking reduces the debt you already have in real terms because what you owe has less buying power than it did at the time you borrowed it – this is especially true in Bond markets where the money has been borrowed at much lower levels of interest rates than currently prevail

  5. Rushi Sunak is a Follower of Klaus Schwab….very dangerous man and opinions, …they follow their own Agenda about restructuring World Powers and Economics…not the interest of the People and Taxpayer…that has nothing to do with Brexit, Britain has done right to get out of this corrupt EU Freakshow…now you have to sort out your own Gouvernment ❤
