  1. Hey winters – first off love your vid’s!

So we also did a review of daemons of the ruinstorm (on our own podcast) and kinda came to the same conclusion sadly. There is just SO much watered down and wasted potential in these rules – it is somewhat sad to compare them to 1.0.

Does this mean daemons are unplayable – not at all! There will be some hard lists from daemons (maybe not rivaling stone gauntlet lol – but hard). The problem is because the variety is so dumbed down and cast aside – the same lists are going to show up. 3x sovereigns with wings and psychic powers with swords, an arch daemon with the same, some behemoths and swarms and brutes for flavour.

Why take a Hierarch when… honestly… it sucks. Harbinger – such a great idea – why can’t he join units!?!?! It’s like someone passed this off to an intern, said “oh snap we forgot the rules” and slapped these together.

Ffs – we had 15 warlord traits in the last rule set… and something like 15 combinations of wargear/mutations. Arch daemons had their own table – THEIR OWN TABLE – of powers that made them feel like arch daemons. Literally – they could have taken the rules from 1.0, modify them slightly to fit the new rules…. AND LITERALLY JUST REPRINTED THEM.

Overall – am I happy we got rules – sure yeah. Am I happy with the rules we got – absolutely not. Im hoping – HOPING – maybe GW revisits these rules in a campaign book and revises them to fit more 1.0 rules. It’s… it’s just sad.

The good news is that at least are playable and didn’t get face punched like Solar Aux or Militia 😂

  2. Great summary take on the Daemons! A perfect waste indeed – but then GW rarely misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

See, I am a "daemon guy" through and through. I have way too many models for them, I love the conversions possible, I love the crazy things you can do with colour. I am still looking forward to do a cool Ruinstorm army… but you can bet your soul on the fact this is NOT due to the poorly done PDF. All it really does for me is providing some "gameplay legal" guidelines – and it does not even suggest base sizes! Talk about the lowest of bars to pass…
