  1. When I asked grandpa what was his most scary situation of the war, he said "when they opened up the front of the boat and said get out". He was lucky to not be the first waves, being in the 440th AA Artillery Battalion. They shot down the first ME-262 fighter jet, which I have his newspaper clipping about. Said you just had to lead off more since they were fast. 🙂
