  1. This was the "shorter, tangentially related video that shouldn't take stupidly long to make" I referenced in the last video.

Been a rough couple months, so sorry it took so long. More soon.

  2. its a shame nobody ever talks about black prophecy. it was a game SUPER ahead of its time. the graphics were mindblowing for the era and it was super expansive. there was uhh, some sort of weird eugenics stuff going on with some in game church. and one of the biggest communities in the game took that and turned it into a REAL cult. with like, potentially some real world crime that happened?? it's impossible to find any information about it now, since the game has been dead and unplayable for like a decade. and seemingly nobody remembers it.

probably the most note-worthy thing about the game as a whole, is the soundtrack. which i guarantee a TON of people here have heard, without even realizing it. a few years ago, the soundtrack ended up getting released onto a royalty free music site, and since then THOUSANDS of youtube videos use the music for their own.

i'd love to learn more about what was going on with it, or know what the extent of "real world" implications the cult had. but i was never a part of it, and only ever heard second hand stories from other players. but they had a sizable presence online. they controlled a big part of the in-game economy

  3. Linked to cults recruiting through games is terror groups recruiting people through games. Like right now I'm reading a notice from the Australian federal police from december last year how IS and far-right groups are in Roblox. But it happens all over the world apparently. A Singaporean article mentions how various terror groups even specifically make games to recruit people with, though they're not saying which ones. The EU made a big report about it in 2021 as well.

  5. The Silver Sisterhood vtuber… Are you talking about Cure Dolly? The Japanese learning channel?

Cause I distinctly remember a women only cult popping up while I was deep diving Cure Dolly's past, and she also (probably) died recently.

  6. I remember participating in the Cabbage Cult Wars in RuneScape. It was such a great time. I remember two smaller factions fighting to the death and then all meeting up in the part room to give out gifts and hang out. It was the one time that cults were fun because even though we took the fights seriously at the end of the day it was all for fun and just a genuine mockery of actual real world cults

  7. Well obviously Kanye Quest didn't need internet access. According to Accensionism your soul and the developers soul do a handshake and transmit your credit card information telepathically via the noosphere.

  8. It is wild to me that Nightmare craft is a fucking cult mod. I've seen it on the top pages of curse forge so many times, and have considered playing it myself.
Might actually do it now just to see how weird it is

EDIT: you ever get so quick to make a joke that you forget Neopets' connection to scientology or…

  10. I don't want to be that guy, but there were moments where you got into the storyteller voice, and you sounded like a more chill Jerma985. You even said "giant enemy spider" and that made me chuckle. Good video, keep it up.

  11. Does anyone know what ever happened to Sappho? Is there a good video going into detail about her, I haven't seen or heard much besides a short encounter I had with her last year.

  12. Hot take: the Victorian era, from the gaslit streets to the American frontier, is the female equivalent of the Roman empire for men. They think about it all the time. Some are completely obsessed with it.
