Cultish: Shincheonji – Infiltrating the New Heaven New Earth Cult

Cultish YouTube Channel: @TheCultishShow

Join us this week as we investigate Shincheonji – an aggressive Korean cult that is infiltrating churches and is targeting Christians using lies and deceptive practices in order to recruit new members.
Our guests this episode, Steve and Chris, are both passionate about sounding the alarm about this dangerous cult.
Steve brings decades of experience in counter-cult studies and apologetics and has personally infiltrated the Shincheonji cult, while Chris is a former registered member of Shincheonji who attended their church services, used to recruit for them, and who knows this group from the inside.
These episodes not only deal with explaining the history and beliefs of Shincheonji, but also offer a solid Christian response and warning about this deceptive group. These episodes are also important because they not only discuss this group, but we also do a fascinating deep dive into the behavior and practices utilized by cults in general.

Steve has written a resource on Shincheonji which can be downloaded here. Be sure also to visit www.ExaminingTheSCJ.com for in-depth information and resources on this group.

  1. My bro is in this and he is really smart but I think half of it is ego and people love zoom classes. I was deinstitutionalized very early so these things have way less sway on me. Invited to 2 different cults by my high school peers 🙁
One step at a time. Read your word. Love your neighbors pray!

  2. We label cults ‘cults’ because they’re easy pickings, in a sense; even if their beliefs are no more outlandish, in theory, than reincarnation or the transubstantiation of the wafer in the Catholic Eucharist. Believing in resurrection, demons, devils and eternal torture is a prime example of cultish belief. Voting for those that deny Climate Change, implement Book Bannings, voting for those that fight against Common Sense Gun laws, Demonizing the LBGT community, Embracing evil men like Trump or DeSantis, Fighting to destroy Democracy is where the cult of Christ has led American Christians. And to illustrate how the cult of Christ has infected Christians with evil you just have to look at the following proof: Right now 13 states are fighting to force women and children to give birth without exceptions for rape or incest. Again try and understand this evil…Christians feel entitled to force a raped 10 year old little girl to give birth!! It doesn't matter what their family wants, bodily automony doesn't matter…the only thing that matters to the Christian is their tyranny and sanctimony. NO amount of gaslighting, excuses or denial can change this reality of where the cult of Christ leads. But when you can literally believe in resurrections, demons, devils and eternal torture there is literally no evil you can't embrace! It is time we as civilized people help this evil cult fade into the dustbin of history and take back America, the land of the free. Christian actions are why more and more people leave the evil cult daily in developed nations and now they must prey upon the poverty and dispair of under developed nations.

  4. My sister-in-law from Korea was deeply and secretly involved in this cult for 10 years and God delivered her from it completely and she has repented and is following Christ now. God used my college roommates to break her chains. It was awesome. To God be the glory!

  5. I joined some Bible Study classes with this cult for about 6 months (they went under the name CLA in Atlanta I believe) and it was exhausting. They drain you physically and mentally with their studies. Before joining the studies, I asked if they affirmed the trinity, believed Jesus is God incarnate, and pretty much every true Christian essential and they said yes. They straight up lied to me lol. They focus on teaching the parables at first which makes you think that you're studying the bible correctly. I only got suspicious until the teacher emphasized that Jesus was ONLY the "Son" of God, after months of studying. What hurts me the most is losing touch with some amazing people that were also tricked into joining the zoom studies.

  6. this is so fascinating. i was a part of something that believed Jesus was a "physical example of a spiritual truth". He "showed us what we need to do on the inside" to achieve "spiritual maturity". they also believed that the "second coming" was spiritual for when the 144K "overcome" – the 12 tribes were "levels of spirituality" we had to climb, reincarnated until you reached Benjamin. the teacher also believes she is one of the 2 witnesses.. interesting how so many of these connect!

  7. Balls of Light. When I was studying Mongolian Religions by Walter Heissig, they talked about the demonic manifestation of wandering lights. They have been spotted in native American Tribes, etc., and have been described as demons yoked together.

  8. Very interesting and informative, thanks for posting
However, WHY do you all have to talk so fast? It’s like you’re speed reading! This is an unfamiliar subject to most people, so it would be far more useful if you just S L O W down a bit ❤️

  9. I unfortunately got involved in this cult, in London and almost arrived at the 'New Heaven and Earth'. As they started saying things that were doctrinally incorrect, my spirit felt uncomfortable even though I had been attending their Bible studies for months. They encouraged me to leave my church as this represented 'the seas' in the book of Revelation (Although I never did). All the things mentioned in this video are very similar to my experiences.

I wanted to bring my now fiancé to come learn and study, however they advised against this, saying that he could be someone who's heart may not be ready i.e. would question them a lot.

I eventually started to see patterns that this was becoming a works based religion which I knew Christianity was not. I was sleep deprived from the hours at the Bible study and having to travel far to these studies and to return home. I remember taking a test which I know I got all the marks right, yet we were all scolded that many did not pass and we needed to continue studying to be ready for 'heaven'.

I also found it strange that one of the leaders/followers in the Bible Study was married and her husband did not know she was part of this 'church' although she so wanted him to join one day.

I eventually did look them up online and saw they were a cult (another thing they built into their curriculum- that Jesus was seen as a cult leader, and to follow the true way you can be thought to be in a cult by the outside world) .

I left very confused and could not face them after speaking to my church pastor. I blocked them and when one of them came to look for me at my home, I would refuse to see them or luckily I was out most times.

I thank God I did not give up on my faith but it was a disorientating time for me. Thank God for his grace and mercy and His Holy Spirit which did not sit right when they said the Holy Spirit was not part of the Godhead Trinity and other false claims about Jesus.

  10. You know how countries with "Democratic" in their name usually aren't? I just realized that if a Church has "Christ" in it's (long) name, it's probably not Christian.

I'm not saying this is an universal truth, just thay cults love to add "Jesus" to gain legitimacy.

  11. I just got out and after 6 months I still thought this was a Christian Bible Study. My curiosity led me to peak into the internet where all the persecution exist was where I was able to get a view into SCJ. It was indeed a love bomb and than isolation with a final humiliation. I was happily going to a Christian church when I was recruited and lies to by an old friend I grew up with. They call it Church of Jesus located in NY. I live in PA now and would have never been able to know this. It was one to many questions that cause my instructor to declare me spiritually immature! The nerve of her. They cause situations that make you uncomfortable just so you can retake class. The first round you only get your ankles wet! Wtheck that’s is almost a year of dedication and study only to play with my emotions. They need to get sued for the emotional distress they caused to me and my family! My daughter who is 15 overheard a lesson once where they kept saying they were not a cult. She tells me if they are not a cult why do they need to keep repeating it. They certainly against Christianity. My class had a group of 30 that went down to 9 and two O know where already members! What saddens me is that I was thrown off track and now I do not belong to any church.

  12. I'm reviewing your list of videos looking for something that speaks to your faith and practice. I see so many about what you're against but not about. Can you help me out here?

  13. Thank you guys so much for making this video. I was dragged into this cult and did their beginner class for 3 months. Once we got into Revelation in saw all the lies they were spewing. I was introduced to it by a “friend” and now that I left they haven’t reached out at all. Totally secretive and they manipulate you. They don’t take your money, they take something far more valuable: your time. They totally brainwash by having you meet 2-3 times a week. Awful

  14. Man,
the more of these cults I hear about, the more I would LOVE to see a big potluck dinner where all these cult leaders are invited, and watch them all claim they are the ONLY ones with the right revelation 😂
