In this video, I drive a full lap of the custom track Abandoned Boardwalk backwards with the 3 mushrooms available in time trials. However, because it doesn’t require all of them, I don’t use all of them, in fact I use none of them. In order for a track to count as being completed backwards, you must start in lap 1 and travel through all of lap 0 backwards, finishing by reaching lap -1. We will be going through the tracks of the CTGP 1.03-1112 update (29 Sep 2021) alphabetically, and returning to any past tracks if breakthroughs are made that change the statistics of the progression of the challenge (more on this later in the description).

Here, there are NO respawns that are mandatory to complete the track backwards, and there are NO sections requiring any mushrooms. This is known as a complete solution, and is the final point for any track (excluding timesaves).
There are 3 blocks on this track:
1. Getting onto the second boardwalk
2. Getting onto the first boardwalk
3. Getting off of the first boardwalk
This video is an improvement over the previous strat that failed to complete the track backwards at all (https://youtu.be/xn5oUUeubCc). Since then, @EPIK95 found what is known as a backwards or reverse ultra shortcut (https://youtu.be/58VaSV8C-Yo), and EmuTheCat (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCag8yvhqE0P5nNef_0IcWvQ) found a way to perform it shroomless (https://youtu.be/1-ETHXMy_7Q), which requires a different and much longer setup. These long sections are sped up to increase watchability.
See, in the same way that when your lap completion increases by more than 95%, a lap is subtracted, when your race completion decreases by more than 95% (which can be thought of as increasing by less than 5% so long as you cross over 0%) upon entering the finish line checkpoint (CP0), a lap is added. This is known as the reverse 95% rule. If you intentionally avoid the effects of the reverse 95% rule by having your race completion decrease by less than 95% upon entering CP0, you will be end up at the beginning of lap 0, allowing you to turn around and enter lap -1.
This is typically achieved by travelling directly from one of the checkpoints in the last KCP region to the CP0, which can be improved by entering CP0 as late as possible (from in front). On this track in particular, the last KCP region (7) has CP41, CP42, and CP43. All of CP41 and most of CP42 fit the requirements, however the only way to get from one of these checkpoints to in front of the finish line is by exiting the track at CP42.
Epik performs this using 1 mushroom to clip from the offroad onto the wallside seam via wall hugging to avoid getting counted OOB instantly. Unfortunately, this isn’t viable shroomless, so a new method was devised by EmuTheCat by clipping onto the trackside seam, riding it all the way to CP43, where you can follow it to the waterside seam, which takes you all the way to the first ramp. Because you are no longer in CP42, you have to clip OOB again to traverse to the wallside seam, ride that all the way to hit CP42, then turn around and continue with Epik’s original strat post-wallclip.
Reverse ultras ruin a lot of the fun and creativity in the backwards challenge so they are treated as separate categories from “no ultra” runs. Because of this, Abandoned Boardwalk No Ultra is still a failed attempt.
In summary, Abandoned Boardwalk (using the reverse ultra) has the following statistics to offer:
Minimum Respawns for Infinite Mushrooms: 0
Minimum Respawns for 3, 2, 1, 0 Mushrooms: 0, 0, 0, 0
Minimum Mushrooms for Minimum Respawns: 0
Minimum Mushrooms for Track Completion: 0

secret kiro video :O
(it’s in the playlist if you’re wondering how I got here)
The next few videos are going to be improvements on some past tracks that I've been procrastinating uploading for quite a while now. Enjoy 🙂
Is that a mirrored blaze’s mc glitch start slide
Seems like a viable bagging strat
