Croc & gators eating deer!!

The sheriffs office allowed us to take this young roadkill deer for our resident crocodilians, and they loved it! I get a lot of questions about whether they can choke and the answer is NO. They will rip and tear until it is done. Once a piece is ripped up enough to fit down the throat or the bones broken enough to fit, they will swallow it down whole, as they have done for millions of years.

~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that would’ve otherwise been destroyed. The state of Florida destroys 8,000 “nuisance” gators annually, but we don’t have a nuisance gators problem but rather a nuisance HUMAN problem. 1k people a day move to FL, unsustainably developing the land, and a lot of ignorant people making a nuisance out of themselves. NEVER feed a wild gator, never have kids or pets near the water, and never swim in gator habitat! And of course, never attempt anything you see in my videos!
If you would like to donate to the care of the sanctuary animals, we greatly appreciate any support!! You can make a tax deductible donations directly through our website bellowingacres.org
  1. Great video! Akila ate alot better then Big Mac but big macs piece was bigger. So fun seeing Dino approach you guys for food! Julie being dangerous and Daisy being cute and gentle as always! Thanks alot for all you guys do for the animals!
  2. Watching Akila down that deer leg shows you how easy it would be for her to take a human down….reality check! It's so cool watching the joy in your face when Dino actually comes for the food. So great to see him feeling better. Thank you for the vlog.
  3. I kinda see what you mean with Big Mack. He usually looks super cute, almost like a giant swamp puppy, but he definitely looked more like the apex predator he is in this one.
    I always smile when you pan across the little conure hanging out with the budgies and cockatiels in the aviary. My two are absolute delights (despite the bite scars and the likely hearing damage), and I'm glad yours is getting along in his flock.
  4. @GatorChris gonna have to partake in making deer burgers for Bella, Big Mac (no pun intended), Dino, Akila, Tad Pole, and"Stallone" and the monitor. Am I missing anyone? Like Shrimp on The BARBI…😜.
  5. You have just taught Aquila that when you give her food, sometimes you might want to take it back, so she'd better grab it fast and hard as soon as she sees it. Isn't this dangerous? To you, I mean.
  6. It always interests me how Jellybean pretty much always grabs blue berries. The way the toucan is designed with such a long beak and little eyes on the sides of its head, I would have guessed that food might be picked less selectively.
  7. Wow Akila….you really went for yours!!!! Bella too, but seems like she was confused because she is getting used to you, respects you even if she would try you as well. Big Mac has a soft spot, maybe if he wasn't looking into the deers eyes. LOL. I love these gators, Love AKILA too even if I am terrified of her.
  8. Now I wanna see Casper swallowing something bigger than him and being all I-am-a-predator-remember-yall.
    When are you gonna see him next? i know it's tough, but you miss him and we miss him. Does he have anyone out there at all that he trusts as much as you?
  9. Feeding roadkill is such a good idea! Not only does it provide more whole nutrition to the animals, but it's also free of cost to you and you're helping keep the road clean! I follow another sanctuary who does the same thing.
  11. Chris – – – Re your observation at 12:00 to 12:53 minutes, in which you thought there was a difference in the way an alligator "looked" when it was in "kill mode". You are not crazy. Crocodilians have mobile eyeballs within their sockets, and tend to withdraw them [eyeballs] for protection during real or potential combat when killing large prey animals. So they do then look more small-eyed and meaner. [If the combat is extreme, they may close their eyes altogether.]
