Four volunteers have emerged from a small compound at a Nasa base in Texas.
They spent more than a year living in conditions designed to simulate those on Mars.
The space the volunteers have lived in for the past 378 days is 3D printed.
Nathan Jones, Anca Selariu, Kelly Haston and Ross Brockwell entered the 1,700-square-foot enclosure back on June 25, 2023.

Honest question, wouldnβt the lower gravity be one of the biggest issues on Mars, but hard to simulate that atm though
Shagging a-plenty I bet……ππ
They could only be in high spirit because they're still on earth and know they can walk out and be next to family in no time. But when u r really on Mars, it's not like you could just get a plane ticket and fly back. That scenario is much worse.
Matt Damon did it first.
A Martian solar year is equal to 1.88 Earth years (687 Earth days) so your assertion "They spent more than a year living in conditions designed to simulate those on Mars." is simply wrong. They would have had to have done it longer.
Wonder if there were any budding office romances π
Oh my God. They should've at least given them the luxury of LED screens to simulate the environment π¨ Those wallpapers look horribly depressing.
Someone see something diferent on the 4 participants? By my gues..
They will film the whole mars mission in this box.
( and on location in Australia )
…
they look pale and ill we was only ment to live on earth !!!!
best space cadet is me or sloth bear, bbc knows and will select sloth bear. but bbc, sloth bear can speak english without artificial intelligence
I feel like NASA budget could have afforded a better Mars simulation.
Just like being on Mars except without the lower gravity, the lower global temperatures, the longer seasons, the increased deadly radiation and, of course, the lower PSI. Other than those critical life threatening features it was just like being on the fourth planet.
We cant go back to the moon for some reason but they are training for a Mars mission? Ya, that makes sense…
How much were they paid
but what about the martians, did anyone ask them
That's weird
Im getting tired of the feminism in BBC. Report the news and stop slanting the stories, thumbnails, etc.

Let's leave Mars alone.. we shouldn't go there and destroy that place too..let's make earth a better place before going to destroy someone else's territory π½
More money laundering bollocks ππππ
The entire planet did 2 years during Covid, we are all going to Mars, pack it up.
Imagine just now finding out about the Kendrick & Drake beef π
This is probably one of the vault stories in fallout
Did they bombard them with deadly radiation? Because the main problem is probably no magnetosphere. No answers there for more than 30 people for a century or two. And we don't have a century. Let's sort not destroying this planet first. And maybe a couple of
moon bases for practice.
Looks like we're heading to a Star Trek like future.
