Creative Success Against The Odds | Nature Photography

Melodramatic title perhaps, but completely and utterly distracted in this week’s video but my creative mojo managed to keep focused and create new work in the face of adversity whilst looking after our mad dog, Willow. Only two images this week however, but in my view, they are quite possibly two of my best shots in a while.

  1. wow – the water shot is almost Turner-esque 🙂,and I love the leaf-on-leaf action!
lovely to see Willow enjoying the outdoors, Dexter watched along with me rather jealously, as he's not allowed off his lead (he's a border terrier with zero recall skills!!)

  2. Two absolutely fascinating images. 😮 … Finding an image where the little river is incorporated, I would certainly have done as well. 😊 but it would have never occurred to me that a leaf on leaf could create such a striking photograph. 😮 … well done, sir. 😊

  3. Hi Simon, just a quick question, with the overhead leaf shot, could you not have hand held the camera, and increased the iso to give you sufficient shutter speed to avoid shake? Given that you're shooting medium format, would a higher iso matter?

  4. Another great video Simon. We have a Springer Spaniel and my wife keeps telling me that I should take him out with me!! So far I've refused 😊 I honestly couldn't cope. You managed surprisingly well considering. I loved the river image 👌

  5. I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to put my camera on a tripod with a very active dog about, but she is adorable to watch.
I enjoyed the creative shot of the water in the stream. It really came out well.

  6. Glad somebody else has a mad dog, I think you coped very well with all the distractions caused by Willow. The river shot is stunning love the beautiful colour tones. I imagine Willow fell fast asleep when you returned home lovely to see her enjoying the countryside. Two stunning shots as always, what would have done without Willow's lead!!!

  7. I was quite impressed by the river shot as I wasn't certain what you were going for until you showed it! The image of the leaf was another educational moment for me. LOL….loved to see Willow in your video, I know they can sometimes be a nuisance but she certainly made me laugh as she covered your camera bag with fallen leaves!! Hope to see more of her in the future. Thanks Simon for today's fun!

  8. Morning Simon. Man, that is one manic dog.

Enjoy this, yet another video from you out doing for it as you do best.

Interesting set of photographs today, with my favourite being the panorama of the abstract leaf shot from below. That's quite lovely. Get it printed. Get it for sale.

You have so many of these gems now Simon, it's about time that you did an exhibition properly. Hope you're well mate. Off to Texas next week I will try and catch you when I get back
